a very light saison brewed with pomegranate, prickly pear, and lime juice, clearly designed to be like a summery beer cocktail, but the added ingredients are pretty light in here, and this one to me is a little bit exposed on the french saison yeast side of things, not as rustic and funky as would favor it, and unlike the blackberry saison they do with the same or a very similar strain, there isnt enough from the additives to quite round this one out, although it is light and summery and fresh, i like my saison a little more earthy and old worldy. it takes on no color at all from the fruit, a lightly hazy pale yellow color is all, and aside from the lime, i dont get much from the others. instead its mostly the white winey esters of this yeast strain, belgiany a little bit in the classic sense, and with just a little floral sweetness from the fruit before a little acidity from the lime comes in. a few things work in its favor including the lightness of everything, the cleanness and dryness of the ferment, and the very high carbonation. like their blackberry saison though, i would love to try this one with some wild yeast in it! im glad the added ingredients are subtle, but this wasnt at all my favorite beer in here...
