“Wild and free” is a way of life here at Indy Brewing. It’s also how we like to brew. This dry-hopped saison combines the rustic category-defining Saison DuPont yeast with a fresh helping of earthy Styrian Golding and fruity Sabro hops. Saison is French for ‘season’ and here in Texas our 2 weeks of spring and 8 months of summer are fast approaching. So kick off those winter boots and let this easy-drinking and refreshingly dry farmhouse ale run wild and free through the peaks and valleys of your palate.

Poured from can into tulip, good 2+ finger cream colored head. good retention and lacing. Pale golden in the glass. Smells of Belgian phenols, bubble gum, clove and slight lemon on the nose. Taste on the front is the phenols, then some tart lemon in the middle, coconut is absent until it pretty much warms up and then it peaks thru. Finish is crisp and on the dry side. I really like this as a beer with food. Honestly I was a Saison fan boy when I first discovered them, but I have had so many bad ones, I usually don't even try them anymore. This was a single purchase, but going to go back and grab a sixer because I really feel they did a good job with this.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The brew pours a clear straw yellow color with a puffy head of white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a wheaty and bready smell with some banana, pepper, and clove. Along with these smells comes a light fruit aroma of white grapes and pear, as well as a little bit of lemongrass and hay.
Taste – The taste starts out with a light cracker malt and bready wheat flavor mixed with a light apricot, grape, and peach sweetness. The clove, pepper, and hay that were in the nose are there as well, being accompanied by some coriander and yeast. As the taste advances it dries out a bit, with some of the lemongrass that was in the nose coming to the tongue, and with a bit of an increase in the spice toward the end of the flavor transition.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thinner with a carbonation level that is high. For the drier nature and the flavor profile the feel is good and makes for a nice easy sipper.
Overall – A rather nice easy drinking brew overall. A fun one to try if you have the opportunity. Especially good for a nice hot summer day.

Picked up a can of this beer at a local grocery store. Poured into a tulip glass. Bright clear yellow color with nice fluffy white head and good curtain lacing. Lemony, grassy smell and taste. Taste isn’t bad but dull. This beer is probably not a repeater.
