Pours a barely translucent dark golden amber with a thick, fine-bubbled, pale golden buff head. Malty aroma has a strong overtone of wine and oak, obviously from the wine barrels. Flavor has a firm overtone of wine-soaked wood, which actually complements the malt and other fruitiness quite well. It’s almost like drinking wine. Smooth texture has plenty of fizz, though body is so-so. I think this is a one-and-done deal, which is too bad as it’s a winner.

5 Seasons Saison ale "aged in a Terra d'Oro Zinfandel barrel" for 4 (5?) months, then served in a tulip glass.
A very fine looking beer! The rosy-amber body has lots of fine-grained carbonation. The head is perfectly proportioned, dense, and appears to have picked up a touch of rose coloring from the barrel. Great retention and rings of lacing.
Aroma: floral, yeasty, wine barrel, sweet, ripe banana, oaky. Complex but messy.
Better flavor. Very rich and complex with a rather strong contribution from the barrel. Lightly sweet and tart.
Feel: excellent, with soft but lively carbonation that seems just right for the medium body.
O: well executed, barrel-aging upgrade.
