Day 12 Seasons Greetings
While we are dreaming of a white Christmas , the only thing blanketing the ground south of the equator is white sand on pristine beaches , take a trip below the equator with the Southern Cross Kiwi Sour where sour tartness is paired with a mild kiwi sweetness and tropical fruit twist

Dirty yellow with a light haze, very little head, but it shows a bit of lace.
Aroma of under-ripe kiwi and yogurt. Strangely intriguing.
Taste echoes the aroma, a little salty, wheat biscuit, lime, weird.
Light to moderate body has a slight acidity.

330ml bottle, day 12 of the 2016 Seasons Greetings holiday mixer from Parallel 49 and Central City - nice to see that these Advent calendars haven't gone hog-wild with the sours - yet, that is, as we're only halfway done.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber colour, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy ecru head, which leaves a bit of low-lying tabletop cloud lace around the glass as it slowly sinks out of sight.
It smells of musty lemon, underripe kiwi, spoiled milk, grainy pale malt, and a further indistinct tropical fruitiness. The taste is tart kiwi flesh, lemon rind, lacto, grainy and crackery pale malt, more plain citrus fleshiness, some still hard to identify tropicals, and very minor leafy, earthy, and gently perfumed floral hop bitters.
The carbonation is fairly light in its basic cable frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, as the fruitiness glosses over the tartness to even allow for a burgeoning airy creaminess. It finishes almost on the sweet side, with citrusy and tropical fruit predominating. Whither thou, sourness?
Overall, I can't say that I dislike this brew, because, even though it's a bit lopsided, it's at least in my direction - nice and fruity, with the tart/sour/lacto thing fading agreeably fast enough. Appreciating things for the wrong reasons is still appreciation, right?
