BigBry gets big ups from The CANQuest (TM) for more CANadian beer in a CAN! I am out of my dear Red Racy, but her cousins, the lumberjacks, have come to visit me also. It is a little disCANcerting, though, to hear them singing Monty Python's "The Lumberjack Song". We'll be watching hockey later, so it's all good.
From the CAN: "Central City Brewing Co. Springboard Lager is craft-brewed in small batches using only the finest barley malt, choice hops, special yeast and filtered water in every beer. Each batch is aged longer to help deliver its golden colour and crisp taste that only the best beers in the world enjoy. 'Cheers!'"
The Crack & Glug produced a thick, foamy finger of bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a slightly hazy lemon-yellow. Nose had a pleasant malty sweetness, somewhat wheat-like in its fragrance. Definitely NO corn, though, which was a welcome relief! Mouthfeel was medium with a plain, unadulterated lager taste, the way the style was intended before the AmeriCAN Prohibition screwed things up. The taste was more toward the German style of lager, with an emphasis on malt flavor, at least up front. On the finish, I got a light hop bitterness, but nothing overpowering or untoward. This was a smooth, easy-drinking beer that definitely merits CANsideration for inclusion in your CANadian cooler. More, please!

Macro-lager (pale straw) color, but leaves a large, white, rocky head. Clear enough to read through the glass. Leaves chunky lace on the glass.
Raw grain aroma. No hop.
Smooth flavor, but it has elements of the macros, particularly in the swallow, which has a thin flavor similar to spent raw grains. I wonder if there are adjuncts in this brew. Better body than most of this style. I'd ask that they hop this a little more in the future.

Clear golden colour with a white head, slight retention & lacing.
Light floral grassyness and a hint of spice in the aroma.
Great floral, grassy & steelie spicing (some saaz?). Most breweries would call this a Pils (though it wouldn't be true), and it's certainly a good lager.
Light to moderate body, very drinkable.

355 ml can, brought back from Vancouver. Red background with a stylized picture of 2 loggers standing on their springboards cutting down a huge tree.
Golden color, short white head. Decent hop smell. Slightly sweet bready malt taste, a bit of fruity finish. Crisp, fresh flavor. Clean, nothing bad to speak of. Well made, a good above average lager.

Straight forward lager from Central City. Nothing out of the ordinary, but its just done right. Nice golden colour with a thick white head and a steady stream of bubbles.
Fresh hop smell with some sweetness from the malts. Very crisp. Crisp apple-lemon flavour with bready malt hints. Great on a hot day, and very sessionable. One of the better lagers I've had -domestic or imported.

Add another solid lager to the BC list. Seems like every craft brewer has a lager now and Central City is no exception. This is clean well made beer that surprises no one but fully meets the style and would be the perfect to foist on your macro loving brother in law. The fact it now comes in cans and in a mixed pack with the wheat and the pale ale is fantastic.
