I know the label says "fruit forward" but I found the fruitiness pretty reserved, certainly not on the level of what I consider a "fruit beer". The scent of the beer definitely has notes of kumquat, especially the rind, but in the taste the citrus is more of a background note. It was bolder than I expected from the packaging/marketing, but it goes really well with certain oily and strong flavoured Chinese dishes. It's strong enough to hold up to something super spicy for example without being so strong that it clashes. (The scent also has some elements that remind me of seasoning for Chinese cured meats... and I'm not sure how I feel about it... which is why I dinged it .25 of a point. Just subjective.)
