355ml can - day 19 of the 2018 Parallel 49/Red Racer Alpine Adventure Pack. A 'juniper smoked farmhouse ale'.

This beer pours a mostly clear, medium golden yellow colour, with four fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and slightly fizzy dirty white head, which leaves some dispersing campfire smokescreen lace around the glass as it slowly blows off.

It smells of lightly roasted, grainy and bready cereal malt, green juniper tips, some earthy yeastiness, and very tame leafy, herbal, and floral hop bitters. The taste is gritty and biscuity pale malt, coriander and black pepper spice, ethereal wet ashes, a fading juniper woodsiness, faint estery yeast, and more earthy, musty, and dead floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its palate-satiating frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and more or less smooth, with a minor edgy spiciness perhaps making a mark in the surface sheen here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and withering spicy notes presiding.

Overall - this comes across as a duly-rendered version of the adjunct-heavy style that it claims to be. The smoky essence is reserved, but the juniper is kind of all over the place, leaving the base ale (and yours truly) a tad bewildered at times. Moving on.
