Whiskey, Orange & Cherry Pale Ale
Copper-coloured with little to no head. I definitely taste orange and a tad of whiskey but no cherry. This is a bit too weird for my drinking on a regular basis.

Clear amber color. Small head quickly collapsed, leaving a narrow fringe of lacing. Mix of fine to medium sized bubbles rising from the bottom.
Smells of a sweet bitter orange with a faint yeast. Swirling the glass kicked up a tiny bit of barnyard which quickly disappeared leaving a fresh orange scent.
Tastes of a blend of cherry and orange, with the two battling back and forth for dominance. Slightly sweet. Light malt with a mild-medium bitter. Mild impression of an alcohol-like volatile component. It probably isn't really alcohol, since this is only 6.5% ABV. The aftertaste is mostly orange which fades to a medium bitter.
Quickly foams up, leaving a little tingle-burn. Medium body. Leaves the mouth feeling odd long after swallowing.
Overall I don't find this enticing. Not the fault of the beer, as individual components are quite nice. It just isn't a style I appreciate.

500 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 22 2019 and served slightly chilled. I'm not a mixed drink fan, so take this review with a grain or two of salt.
Pours clear orange-amber, with more than two fingers of foamy white head immediately erupting from the surface. It doesn't give up any ground, not even after ten minutes - in fact, it has crept even higher over that time. I never thought I'd say this, but there's such a thing as *too* much head (and I'm certain it wasn't a 'dirty glass' problem). At least it has the courtesy to leave behind a beautiful coat of webby lacing as it is reduced to a creamy, quarter-inch cap. Oily orange peel, cherries and whisky-like booziness characterize the aroma, which is rather sweet.
Yep, it tastes like an old fashioned, so mission accomplished in that regard. The orange peel flavour mingles together with hints of herbal bitters and a caramelized malt backbone, while notes of cherry and whisky start to gain momentum towards the tail end of the sip. Finishes with herbal notes and a touch of boozy sweetness, with citrus oil lingering into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderate to low carbonation levels that gently agitate the palate; feels smooth and a little slick, not unlike the actual mixed drink. One was plenty for me.
Final Grade: 3.72, a B grade. After Hours Old Fashioned Pale Ale is tough for me to grade, because it's actually a pretty accurate beer-ified emulation of an old fashioned... I just didn't find it to be a great pale ale. Chalk it up to personal tastes, I guess - this was too sweet and boozy for me, though I did finish my serving without much complaint. I doubt I'd buy this again, as I stick to beer (and not liquor) for a reason - but anyone with an appreciation for the mixed drink it's based off of should consider this worth a try.

500 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for about $3.25 CDN.
Appearance - Mostly clear, copper colored brew with about two fingers of head that won't go away, a half finger remains at the end of the beer over 30 minutes later. Curtains of lacing too.
Smell - Orange most prominent, plenty of cherries and certainly some whiskey in behind. Certainly and old fashioned.
Taste - Like the nose, orange and cherries mostly, very sweet, some whiskey and caramel filters in behind. There's some bitterness there as well but only shows up at times and on the whole is very sweet and possibly too sweet for many palates.
Mouthfeel - Rich and fairly full, middling to light carbonation and fairly dry finish.
Overall - It's beer that tastes like and old-fashioned, great execution and an enjoyable treat. However due to the sweetness, I'd put the limit at one, unless you really love an old-fashioned. Still big points for executing a beer this well that tastes so much like a mixed drink.
