Grizzly Mountain is for the most part, a simple and agreeable export-style stout. It sports a deep chestnut color with ruby highlights, a scant head with no lace, and a light roasty aroma. The flavor at first is roasty with modest bittering. But an astringent mouthfeel corrupts the finish and the brew as a whole lacks crucial sustain. There is ample coffee to be found here, but itÂ’s more like truckstop drip than Starbucks gourmet.
Cascade Lakes offers this stout as a winter seasonal and lists it at 4.3% ABV. One might hope that CL decides to offer a stout year-round, but not this one.
