A nice DIPA. amber color is a thing of beauty.

Especially appreciate the strong malt presence, making this one of the most ‘balanced’ DIPA’s that I’ve encountered. It almost ventures into an ‘old ale’ profile, making it perfect for cool Spring afternoons (but not so much hot July/Aug).

Surprised by the lack of hop 'bite' for a DIPA - though there is a solid hop presence.

This has proven to be a good choice to introduce macro-brew drinkers to the world of DIPAs (likely owing to the lack of ‘hop bite’).

Readily available fresh and priced a bit below some of the other excellent- but more elite/cult favorite Oregon DIPAs. Good deal in 12 oz. cans at Central Oregon Grocery Outlets.

Overlander – from Cascade Lakes. 12 fl oz can acquired from @muchloveforhops3 in BSBIF #1. Reviewed 12/12/23 (Review 3192). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
On bottom of can “PKG ON 10/11/2023”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 51.9 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 58.6 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same.
Head: Large (Maximum 4.7 cm, aggressive center pour), cosmic latte, high density, average retention, dropping to a 2.5 - 5 cm crown, and a thin, rocky cap.
Lacing – Good. Wide band of tiny to small bubbles, connected to the crown by wide columns
Aroma – 4 – Flowery hops. No malt, no yeast, no alcohol (8.9% ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter with an underlying resinousness. Malt backbone very evident. No yeast, no alcohol (8.9 % ABV as marked on the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Initially, barely noticeable gastric warming but it builds.
Palate – 4 – Medium; approaching syrupy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4 Very pretty Impy IPA, golden and clear. Bitter and resinous with a solid malt backbone. A classic example of the West Coast style of IPA.
