12 oz single bought from Fred Meyer in North Salem. $1.29 Clear, bright golden ale with a large bubbly white head. Rather plain but nice floral hop aromas..,slightly spicy and with a nice pale malt background. Taste is rather well balanced with a honeyish sweetness..that counteracts the hops.Rather good. OK mouth feel nothing wonderful but good to go! Average yet drinkable APA.

Pours light amber with about one half inch of white head that dies rather quickly. Appearance is saved partially by dense foam lacing that follows the ring of head down the glass.
Smell is lightly floral and light grains.
Taste is moderate bitterness up front with some citrus and leather. Malts are just sufficient for the style. No great depth of interesting flavors here but easy drinking and I do like the hop combo. Being unsure about the freshness (no date) leads me to surmise this may a bit old.
Mouthfeel is OK a bit more carbonation might liven things up some. Finishes medium wet with some drying from the leathery hops.
Overall a middle of the road APA. Wouldn't mind a fresh one on tap just to see if I am correct about the possible age being a factor.

On tap, took home in a half growler, poured into pint glass.
A-Golden, straw, some very light caramel coloring. Bright and clear. Thin, fizzy head, minimal lacing. Head retention okay. Nice, not beautiful, would expect some more caramel character to most NWPA's. 3.25.
S-Oh hey. Hi there, Mt. Hood and Tettnanger. Brewery's description says intense floral hop nose. Er, nah. Slightly earthy, with some musty funkiness. Maybe some slight bready aroma from the malt, just base malt it would seem. Not getting any esters/fruitiness. Cascade doesn't come through much here. 3
T-Starts with those German/Swiss heritage hop's bitterness and spicy-funk. Rolls through some very slight malt character, maybe some roasted nuts. Little hop flavor from that Cascade that'd I'd hope for in a NWPA. 2.5
M-Maybe it's really different in the bottle? IDK, but this is light bodied. Almost effervescent. Finishes somewhat watery. Wish it had some more dextrin backbone. 2.5
O-Somewhat confusing pale ale. Seems to offer up spicy bitterness as it's contribution to the style, but I feel like this deserves to be fermented with some Kolsch yeast. Not bad, worth a shot, but misses the mark for me. 2.75

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Reviewed from notes.
A- Half a finger fluffy white head. Lame retention, murky straw color and some nice lacing. Noit very impressive.
S- Quite an earthy funk to it, maybe some over-cooked malts, yams, weird musky tones.
T- The funk is still there. Some slight coffee taste to go with the medium roasted malts and some earthy cascade hops.
M- Smooth and wet.
O- I had higher hopes for this beer. The mustiness throws it way off.

Poured into straight pint glass. Poured a hazy orange-yellow color with just a very thin ring of white head that had no retention or lacing.
The aroma was a nicely balanced blend of malt and hops. Each had their features and complemented each other well. That evenness came across in the flavors as well. A solid malt base provided a solid foundation for the tangy hops to perch on.
The body was nicely full, without being at all heavy, and was smooth and even. Drinkability was pretty good, my bottle went down quickly and I could easily see having a few more of these. Overall, a very solid and pleasant brew. It won't replace Mirror Pond as my easy drinking everyday beer, but I can see usually having a couple bottles around for a change of pace. Certainly worth trying when you see it.

Deschutes tulip
A: Pours a fairly clear yellow orange color. Barely any head, and what's there fades quickly. It's bright white.
S: Smells of faint hops and bready malts. Light and refreshing smell.
T: It's just a basic balanced little pale ale. Palate is burnt from dinner but this is really a basic beer. Not getting tons of hops forward or anything.
M: Light bodied and easy drinking.
O: Overall, it's a B- pale ale for me. I guess I am spoiled having Headwaters and Zombie Dust recently with their citra hop goodness. This is just OK.
