Back in 1975 we didn’t just brew any light beer — we brewed Miller Lite, a true American Pilsner. It tastes great. It's less filling. It is The Original Light Beer. And that's no accident.

Amongst macro light beers, this is one of the very few (if not only) that somehow manages to squeeze in a pinch of pilsener/helles-like flavor. Since I appear to alone in rating ML based on the fact that it is light, I proudly recommend this as one of the best in the category. While I've had an occasional micro light lager that surpasses Miller, these have been rare and hard to come by. Obviously, this is not a style commonly braved by craft brewers. Personally, I think this is a pity, as there remains so much unexplored potential... That's right, believe it or not, light beer can actually be good and I challenge any brewers reading this to see if they.have what it takes to manifest such a brew! As it stands, this is pretty much as good as light lagers get. Minus .25 for ad execs spelling like Toys-R-Us kids.

Poured from a can into a pilsner glass.
Look: Clear and golden. Very thick, white head. Clear. Surprisingly good head retention.
Smell: Sweet and dry at the same time, if that makes any sense. The aroma itself is dry, but there's a sweet note like sticks out; it's honey to my nose. Floral. Grain Not a ton going on otherwise.
Taste: Moderately dry. Mellow. That sweet malt note shows up again. Cracker. Light flavor overall and mostly inoffensive. Lightly floral.
Feel: Very light body and strong carbonation. A bit watery, but it could be worse.
Overall: One of the better "light" beers, in my opinion. I like Miller Lite because you can actually kind of taste that it's supposed to be a pilsner, or pilsner inspired.

Had Lite on occasion over the years, golfing, poached from friend's coolers, etc., virtually always from the can, straight, and most recently poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped (likely) best by "APR2026," into pilsner glass.
Pours light straw with clarity and a 1-finger, foamy, near-white head, with good retention, leaving splotchy rings of lace etched down the glass. Mild aromas of sweet malt, a little hop spice and corn off pour, then a little herbal bitterness, and a hint of nuttiness in the aroma as warms, before an increasing and finally overwhelming sweet corn funk. On tasting, begins mild, sweet malt, which barely survives the aggressive carbonation, and the following mild, bitter herbals, leaving only a hint of sweetness to carry into a clean, slightly crisp finish.
After many years of swilling an occasional unavoidable Lite from the can, I gave it the respect of pouring it into a glass to review, which revealed both a prettier beer than its competitors, and an initially promising but ultimately tragic aromatic experience, proving the truism: you should always drink bad beer from the can or bottle.

After having had, roughly, a million of these over the years, I should probably rate it. I like this better than most macro lagers, and yeah I know that's not saying much.

Crisp hoppy taste that disappears very quickly. Taste aligns more with foreign mass manufactured beers in the sense that it is not sweet, but it does not become bitter. A light crisp pilsner perfect for a hot summer day.

When this is cold and plentiful and you're a little buzzed and thirsty but all the good beer you brought to the shindig is gone- hello Miller Lite! Qualifies as fizzy yellow beer. Wouldn't be my preference but not gonna turn it down. Cheers!

Sweet corn with a light mouthful and moderate carbonation. Probably the best out of the light beer category.

I've never enjoyed any lite beers until I tried Miller Lite! It's become one of my go-to beers along with Schlitz and MHL because it tastes great, smells great feels and looks great and I'm still surprised I find myself grabbing Miller Lite when I want a beer! I can't believe it took me this long! I highly recommend Miller Lite!

This is the first beer I ever had in my life, so I admit I am a little biased. There is nothing remarkable about the look or smell of Miller Lite to me, but the taste and feel are unparalleled. It is a beer best enjoyed in bunches, as that helps dispel the admittedly much more "Lite" taste compared to standard Miller offerings.

The hate on this beer is ludicrous. Refreshing with real beer flavor. Malty with slight hop bitterness at the end. Goes good with any meal. You can drink them all day and it counts for hydration. 100% consistency. It's an enjoyable experience and that's more than you can say for a lot of beer in this style and price point. Now that all the micros are closing, what are beer snobs going to drink? This and High Life are legit. Has corn? So what! That's America, baby! Corn bread, tortillas, bourbon, and beer. Embrace this American delicacy.

Honestly, a hit or miss beer depending on the night. It was never a "to go" beer for me. I would pick coors instead. What? 96 calories...thats not bad for a decent tasting beer. Good lacing. Easy to slam. 6 pack tallboys were fun on the reservoir. Idk if i wanna remember the after party
