Poured on tap into a shorty pilsner glass at Barley Brother's. From notes.

Pale amber body, with slight orange apricot colors, some slight cloudy character and served with a thin white collar. Lots of spider lacing while drinking.

Nose is nearly non existent. There's a little bit of fruity estery character or it could be coming from the spicy rye malt, but otherwise a faint dryness of barely squeaking red berried like fruit.

Palate is kind of crisp with some dense malt. Dry spicy character lends more to apricot juice qualities strangely enough, and a nice finish. Palate is light bodied but has a milky like quality, that seem to really carry the flavors very nicely. There's a real nice fruit quality to the finish as well.

One of the more unexpected rye beers, and drinks quite easily for such a high abv as well. Not bad.

This beer appears a hazy, dark burnt apricot amber hue, with one beefy finger of puffy, densely foamy, and faintly bubbly ecru head, which leaves some pleasant layered sedimentary rock lace around the glass as it gently sinks away.

It smells weirdly of gingerbread, straight-up, i.e. toffee, caramel, and bread pudding malt, all spiced to the gills with clove, ginger, and allspice, with a subtle spiced graininess added to the mix, all barely tempered by a dry earthy, understated hoppiness. The taste is more big caramel malt, wet rye bread, clove, ginger, and white pepper spice, and a burgeoning metallic alcohol essence, some weak-ass indistinct hop dryness tagging along for the ride.

The bubbles are present, but mostly sublimated, the body an adequate medium weight, and generally smooth, the booze starting to encroach as things warm. It finishes off-dry, the rye-inflected caramel malt still the main game in town.

An interesting offering from this brewery, one who has thus far seemed entrenched in the 'off by one' category for the popular craft beer styles they are attempting. Here, the spiciness is amped up, and kind of all over the place, making this more of a rye-based winter warmer, the sidling alcohol in full agreement.

 

 

Appearance: a misty reddish amber body with not a lick of head; I had that bottle about 10 inches away from the glass trying to create some head;

Aroma: the rye and hops come together for a little funkiness; fruit and grains; the fruit reminds me of peach and pear

Flavors: nice spicy rye upfront; rye and summer fruit on the mid; touch of citrus on the back and grassy on the finish

Mouthfeel: low carbonation, nice spicy feel, medium body, grassy aftertaste

To the Point: a nice rye beer; this beer has aged well

 

 

 

 

 

A: nice orange color not a very big head but that is due to the low carbonation

S: not bad but the rye aroma is surpassed by the hops. Some sweet fruity aroma is in the back.

T: almost the same as the smell. Tasting is complex more hops tasting than any other flavor, not sure if the rye is mixed with barley or with hops but not too clear.

M: a refreshing sensation maybe body is a little thin bitterness is a little too strong for the style.

 

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Loco Coco's, has started offering some beers from this brewery, in addition to the usual crap on tap. I really enjoyed the IPA; this one was just OK.

In a pint glass the beer was copper colored with a tiny white head.

It had a mild caramel malt aroma, with some spicy rye and a little bit of citrus hops.

Spicy rye taste up front, then some caramel and biscuit. Late citrus, but faint.

Medium-bodied, a little on the sharp side.

I'll stick with the IPA.

Amber, fairly clear, with a thin skim and collar of fine white bubbles and decent head retention. Aromas of dry malt extract, caramel, nutty rye, a bit of citrus fruitiness and slightly buttery. Bitterness was always present, restrained up front and a bit harsh in the finish -- sort of a resinous, steely/metallic character. Some caramel and biscuit as well as malt extract sweetness. Lowish carbonation, medium bodied, felt a bit underattenuated but still slightly dry on the palate. I felt like this beer has potential, but needs to be cleaned up a bit. For purchasing this beer with no prior information, "better than I expected, not as good as I hoped for" pretty much sums up my experience.

 

Copper colored with good carbonation. A tall just off white head thick and viscous with a molten like top and lacing.

Thick toffee malt, with some stone fruit and rye spiciness. Caramel and red currant aromas with hints of raspberry preserves.

Big semisweet maltiness throughout. A bit spicy rye flavor on the finish, with some citrus and stone fruit hop flavors. Peach, nectarine, and pink grapefruit. Rye flavor turns chalky late in the finish and carbonation seems to be missing the middle but shows on the end. A good try but something out of whack.

My first beer from Cucapa`,their wares are at Bestway here in G-boro.Poured into an imperial nonic a clear rich amber/copper with a very thin almost non existent head.Alot of caramel malt in the nose along with spicy rye and a smattering of citric hops,nice aromas but they could have a bit more punch.Well rounded on the palate with all aspects of the beer showing thru,a big caramel/biscuit base mixed with resiny hops,a decent shot of spicy rye comes in a nice finish.A mellow drinker thats well rounded on the palate,a nice first beer from this Mexican brewery for me.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A nice, malty, slightly spicy smell.

T: Tasted of toasted malt, a lot of rye, some hops, and a little citrus thrown in. An interesting, solid, but not groundbreaking flavor.

M: A fair amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: On the whole, this is a decent, generally well done rye beer. Worth a shot.
