dont think ive ever seen a beer from these guys in a can, and its been many years since i saw a new to me beer from them at all, beer is getting killed right now and boutique imports like this at high prices seem to have been some of the first victims, i feel for the importers, but i was stoked to see this, long been a fan of the brewery, and absolutely had to buy this, eight bucks for a single, would probably have paid twice that just with how good their stuff has been, i know i am a lush for this stuff. i know this importer was also canning in the states previously, have to wonder if this was brewed overseas and packaged domestically, pint can seems odd for what this is, but it does seem well conditioned, the can is tight and the carbonation is awesome, i guess im just glad to be having it, its cool someone is willing to go to this length, if in fact that is the case. pale but not that light, golden almost crayon yellow color, just off clear, muted, high headed, peaky and pure white, wispy and rising above the rim of my wine glass, even hanging over the edges and not spilling, permanent lace too, thick as shaving cream, beautiful. the aroma on this doesnt give away the complexity and even intensity of flavor for something this low alcohol and on paper unassuming, white pepper, coriander, printer paper, hotel soap, and spring clover, some hops seem apparent, the yeast makes it, simple in a way, but dynamic too. the flavor pops though, striking right away, hoppy and even bitter, noble spiciness but way earlier than normal. some light astringency here too, kind of cutting more grain richness than expected, but this isnt sweet or anything at all, in fact its snapping dry, white smarties candy, some rustic funk, toasted coriander, zested lemon, green papaya, herbal verdant pep, nice hop bitterness. soft feeling, bubbly but not as zippy as it looks at first pour, the malt is cool, an element not to overlook here, beefs it up a touch, neat minerality, recognizable ferment in my palate memory, of wonderful overall quality. a joy to drink, could have ten of them, want to...

This one pours a slightly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells quite spicy and hoppy, in a good way, with white pepper, tea, and grassiness, with some banana, clove, and bubblegum.

This has a really nice hop character, and almost veers into Belgian IPA territory, in a way that I definitely enjoy. It’s spicy and herbal, with an assertive and fresh Noble hop bitterness. There’s a touch of bready sweetness, with some banana and clove as well.

This is light bodied, clean, crisp, and extremely drinkable.

I feel like this brewery somewhat flies under the radar when it comes to excellent Belgian breweries.

330ml bottle into pint glass at WInking Lizard. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 dense and fluffy white head with great retention and dense soapy lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of big banana, bubblegum, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, pine, herbal, floral, grass, wood, and yeast earthiness. Medium pine/herbal/woody bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish. High carb and light-medium body. Crisp clean refreshing finish. Balanced bready grainy malt and sticky resinous hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin dryness and no hop astringency. Wonderful yeast complexity and balanced noble hops.

From Good Times Oakland, bottom of the can shows 12 in white?

Pours a hazy yellow orange, big fluffy head of foam, excellent retention and lacing.

Smell is grainy, certainly hoppy, yeasty, orange zest, hint of light tartness.

Taste is lemon and orange citrus, yeasty, very very light suggestion of tartness; that comes and goes. Little bit of bandaid like flavour that I don't dig.

Light bodied, I don't reckon that I would seek this out.

I had this on draft 8/28/25 @ the Hopleaf.

Mostly opaque orange appearance.

Big bright white head; strong, frothy lacing remained.

Mineral water, mild clove & faint banana notes in the nose.

Soft medium mouthfeel.

Mild clove & soft banana flavors up front; mineral water notes on the finish.

Hearty for a low a.b.v. beer; solid!

Untappd styled this as a Patersbier and I remember BA having that style. But now it seems to be a rubric blonde.

Go with it because it Looks great, huge head from what I thought was a gentle pour. Lots of lace and active until the end. The head kicks up all these fruity aromas that are stronger than in the Taste. Although it is balanced and very suitable as a table ale; in fact, it seems to be a very good one. Medium-mouthed to full among small beers.

What's important here is my story behind this beer. I've run away from the U.S. and have been in Europe for over five weeks. But the four countries I've been to have had a dearth of Belgians, by far my favourite tradition. (Just so you know, Vienna, Switzerland, France, Spain.) So on my first day back in London, I go to my favourite Belgian supplier at Utobeer. I buy Extra. Along with 100+ other small shops, Utobeer is in Borough Market; a fascinating older market under the tracks that approach London Bridge station. I get some Indian Street Food (a Dossa) and go sit in this open amphitheater were others are eating. And it is the first week of Spring and it is sunny and warm. And I won't describe how the young women are dressed; but let your imagination do the rest.

Anyway, all this explains the Higher Overall Hugs I give Extra. And if in the hopes that I could relive all those sensations again, I would have Extra again. I hope the Pater would look the other way.
