The table tent describes this beer as a Belgian Wit with blood orange puree added. I love fresh blood oranges when they are in season so I ordered one.
The beer arrives on the table in an american pint glass. It looked like a cloudy glass of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice with a golden glow. Uniquly beautiful. The bubbles rising from the bottom give the illusion of pulp. A thin whisp of white topped the beer. It disappeared quickly and left no lacing.
The aroma is oranges with floral undertones.
The taste of fresh squeezed orange dominates all parts of my mouth. The fruity sweetness in balanced by an oily orange peel bitterness and some hops. The floral flavors that Belgian yeasts bring to the glass are overpowered by the citrus. Some grapefruit in the nose.
The mouthfeel is juicy and refreshing.
This really is a differnet beer. The Upstream has changed brewers recently and this beer gets me excited to about my future visits.
