To understand PUFF you have to imagine RESIN in its most raw form: pulled straight from the tanks, still densely packed with pure hop particulate for extra potency. For PUFF PUFF we’re taking this cloudy formulation stratospheric. You’re not seeing double—we amped up the special blend of dry-hops by 2x. Breathe deep for that second hit!

Type: 12-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (air) glass
Price: $11.99 for a 6-pack
From: Lazy Acres in Hermosa Beach, Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 14, 2022
Consumed: Jan. 16, 2022
Misc.: No canned on date (might be Sept. 27, 2021 now that I’m looking at it); Best by March 27, 2022

Bought a 6-pack of this on a recent trip to the Manhattan Beach area. Had three of these before reviewing it, giving the first a 3.75 on Untappd (and writing Earlier. Might not be this good.) and then giving the next two 3.50s. Their website called for “To understand PUFF you have to imagine RESIN in its most raw form: pulled straight from the tanks, still densely packed with pure hop particulate for extra potency. For PUFF PUFF we’re taking this cloudy formulation stratospheric. You’re not seeing double—we amped up the special blend of dry-hops by 2x. However, if you’re going to put a March 27 best by date than you’re going to live with me reviewing it.

Poured a medium golden hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Perfect uneven foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled tangerine, bitter orange rind, grapefruit, Citra, caramel, Mosaic, Juicy Fruit and orange blossom. Smelled a little better from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste was kind of a mess. Super boozy. Got peach, apricot, orange rind, tangerine, caramel, Citra, grapefruit, Mosaic, Juicy Fruit, orange blossom and plum. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Boozy finish. (Feel - 3.75)

Actually not as bad as I originally thought. Still not something I’d want to have again but good overall. (Overall - 3.75)

one of a kind DDH Cloudy IPA. I didn't get the big whiff others write about (perhaps it's allergy season). Taste doesn't disappoint. Well done.

Hazy pour, liquid looks like the color pineapple juice. Seems medium rich.
Nose is grapefruit and apricot with bubblegum.
Flavor is some pineapple mostly. but hmm, I’m missing something. I guess lots. I can’t pinpoint what I DO taste beyond that initial tropical fruit, but I come back in my mind only to alcohol. That’s it! It’s pretty dry, too.
Feels medium to thick with some stickiness.
Really thought I’d like it more. It just doesn’t get better the more I sip on it.

Love the brewery but not sure I love this one… Best by 3/22, consumed 10/22/21 so plenty fresh.
L: From the can; it’s striking.
S: kind of a mishmash of everything. Lots of peach - not really a fav of mine. Bit of sweet citrus and tropical fruits.
T: follows the nose, sadly. Bubble gum peach flavor that I don’t find pleasant. Weird kind of tangy bitterness at the end that also does not work for me.
F: Smooth enough, ok.
O: Wanted to love it; ended up liking it but not enough to seek out.

Can dated 9/27/19 into pint glass. Pours a nie hazy amber with a modest off-white head. Initial impression is a chewy, juicy DIPA with notes of tangerine, orange, grapefruit, mango, and a hint of peaches - all balanced nicely by a fairly sweet caramel malt backbone. Mouthfeel is thick and smooth; alcohol is well hidden. Finish is sweet and fruity, fading to a slightly bitter and slightly dank. I'd love to try this fresh!

I tried a can of "puff puff" last night. It really stays with you, even with strenuous exercise. I hiked over 5 miles up and down terrain in Lyme CT after trying a can and still the after effects lingered. Friends were drinking Peak IPA, much lighter and healthier IMO.
