Amalgamation of two different encounters with this beer: Thanks to ShroudofDoom and Sixpoint for hooking me up with this.

Funky looking 12oz can. Love this brewery's aesthetic.

Poured a straw-gold color, relatively clear, with lots of tiny bubbles arcing skyward. Good sized, fluffy, off-white head that slowly receded down the sides of the glass, leaving quite a bit of sudsy lace.

During the pour, I was hit by a big,hop scent. I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten that big of a nose hit from just the pour! Upon further investigation (a fancy way of saying I did some robust sniffing), I picked up some sweet fruity scents not unlike strawberries. Judging by the smell, Resin could very well be an excellent name for this beer. I suspect that if I have another beer today, I’ll need to re-brush my teeth first!

BIg grapefruity hop taste up front. Not as bitter as I was expecting initially, with a big malty backbone that still manages to pale in comparison to the hop flavor. Grapefruit and a little bit of pine were tasted, along with that fruity sweetness. Midway through the taste there's an almost herbal hop bitterness, reminds me of the flavor you'd find in an assertively hoppy pilsener. There were some slightly subordinate caramel-like and biscuit malt notes as well. There’s also a teeny bit of boozy heat lingering in the background. The finish is bitter and dry, in that order.

Crisp mouthfeel for the style, clean finish for a IIPA, unusual.

Yep, it’s a big beer, but it finishes more cleanly than most of the style . I don’t know if I’d want to session this, but the 12oz can is an awfully nice serving size, and I could see this as a nice nightcap or a way to start a weekend after a long, draining work week.

Best current example of an old school WC IPA. Not fruity, nor tropical, nor hazy, nor floral. Bitter pine with obvious ABV, yes, pour me another. Try it if you haven’t.

Never really got into their stuff when it first came out. Tried Bengali and The Crisp. Meh. Recently saw good reviews for Resin here, and, being a fan of resinous and dank DIPAS, figured I'd give it a go...
Pours a beautiful gold with a nice foam head that quickly dissipates. Upon cracking the can, there's an initial blast of hop aroma, but it's short-lived. The taste is bitter, resinous, piney hops parallel to a strong sweet caramel malt presence. Almost equal bitterness and sweetness in the mix.
I crave old school hop bitterness over newfangled soft, juicy, murky IPAs, but there's not much else going on with this. Kind of a one-trick pony (not a six-point pony?).
The 9.1% is apparent, as well, as it's quite boozy.

12oz can dated BB: Nov 9, 2025. Poured into a Nonic glass. Slightly Murky, yellow-orange in color. BIG, frothy 3 finger head - that settles to a nice robust creamy top. At nearly a year? I’m impressed. Sixpoint brews hold up(if stored properly) I’d say this one is the oldest I’ve had over the years- and definately the smoothest. The 103ibu’s is tamed now. But still, very noticeable albeit suppressed now, by the malt character. The smell is typical west coast hops(pine/tangerine/apricot/red grapefruit) that head, is tremendous! Fresh, this brew has some viscosity - and I think maybe I like it more at a year?! The bitterness, Is what one might look for in this beer. So, maybe I’m liking it, and find it more desirable after the fact. I love hoppy beers. But I also love complexity. This one? Changes a lot in a year. And it’s good at any point. Cheers!

Pours a clear pale orange color with excellent lacing which persists and 2 fingers of whitish foam from a twelve ounce can into
A tulip glass. Aroma of cat pee unfortunately predominates some citrus, malt and bread notes. Flavor is full and citrus, clean malt predominates. Hides the 9.1% abv well.

 

 

 

 

Color of straw. Big, white head. Aroma of pine, tropical fruits, and caramel malt. Strong, hoppy bitterness in taste with a heavy, malty background.

This is a very smooth drinking West Coast DIPA. So be careful, the 9.1% can sneak up on you. Pine, banana, pineapple? Whatever it is it’s very smooth and tasty. I’m about to order another one. Very deserving of its 92 point rating on BA.

Reminds me of some old school west coast IPAs we have in the Midwest. Attractive look to it, copper color and tons of lacing. Grapefruit, orange, pine, resin, a bit of honey caramel sweetness, pale malt. Bitter with clean flavors and crisp.

 

 

Moderately hazy golden color with a modest white head. The aroma is moderately strong with earthy, musty, pine and citrus peel scents. The taste is balanced and has a serious bitterness. Resin-like pine and biter orange peel. Flavorful and very interesting. It hides its ABV well at the start, but after a few sips it does have a warming quality. Full bodied.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a New Belgium globe glass

The beer pours a slightly cloudy copper/orange color with a big off white head that recedes slowly leaving behind quite a bit of lacing.

The aroma is slightly sweet; citrusy and piney with some herbal and spicy notes.

The flavor is piney and bitter with some nice citrusy notes: grapefruit, orange, lemon, and a light malt presence with just a hint of caramel to add sweetness to the beer. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Finishes slick on the tongue.

Overall, this is a great old school DIPA

12 oz. can pours a hazy light orange with big off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is full of piney and citrus hops as the name suggests, but with lots of sweet caramel malts as well. Much smoother and easier to drink than I had expected from a 9.1% IIPA. Has a clean dry finish, as expected. This is not an outrageous hop bomb. Mouthfeel is a little sticky without much carbonation. Medium body. Very enjoyable, and one I return to often.
