I like rousses, but probably the best word that could be used to describe this beer is "inoffensive". It is quite bland for a beer on lies. I am not certain if this has really been retired - there is plenty in stock at my local beer store and the La Tour à Bières website still lists this beer.

Amber color brew, hazy with lots of carbonation. Looks like pepsi cola... not good at all. No head. Not good at all... Big bubbles. Aroma of caramel malts with some sugars. Taste shows caramel notes. No to very little bitterness. Strong carbonation in the mouth. Sugary. Stay away from this brew. Nothing seems to be good. I don't like it and it doesn't come close to a well done beer. Too sugary IMO.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a bubbly head with OK retention. Taste is quite bland with light caramelized notes and unrefined grain. Taste is also a weird mix between some unrefined grainy malt base with some light caramelized notes. Body is a bit light with OK carbonation. Nothing too special happening here.

I'd categorise this as a smoked beer, it reeks of rauchmalt.

Pour medium brown, light head that dissipates quickly, aroma of smoked malt and burnt caramel, taste is predominantly smoked malt with a light mouthfeel.

Not an incredible beer, if it is actualy a rauchbeer, its not half bad.

A - clear, somewhat reddish, but more orangey/brown. Thin ring for head.

S - low level aromas - a bit of grain and a hint of sweetness

T - non-descript beer taste, a bit of sweetness, same yucky aftertaste as their blonde ale.

M - Slick, spritzy, slightly watery.

D - Uninspiring, but I'd still take this over a macro lager.

Tastes almost identical to the blonde ale, this one has less hops (could not taste them actually) and more sweetness. Very forgettable.

Third offering I have tasted from La Tour À Bières and so far I can safely say that their beers are patterned on the same basic recipe with only some variation in the grain bill for colour. All beers weigh in at 5% alc/vol. They taste and smell basically the same, and I guess the house yeast is relatively young and hasn't had a chance to evolve much so no complexity is added by it.

Dark amber leaning towards a chestnut coloured cloudy liquid with no head, retention, or lacing derived from the foam. Yes my glasses are clean.

The faintest aromas of cereal are lined by equally weak notes of chocolate and musty remnants of wet grass. Uncomplicated and uninspired.

Flavours barely step off the beaten path as I found only watered down notes of grain husks through an equally aqueous mouthfeel and barely any bitterness... which is in line with the maltiness, so I guess you could say this beer is balanced. But what's the use.

This is unfortunate. I find this beer so lacking in flavours and aromas that for once, given the choice between this and a macro, I might choose the macro... if I had to make a choice.à

La fabuleuse is named after la fabuleuse histoire d'un royaume, a big multimedia/Aida-style show that relates the history of the Saguenay region.

Appearance: Dark cherrywood, with a brownish/grey head that didn't last too long.

Smell: Honeycomb sweet and quite flowery at first, then a little wheaty, it turned to caramel with some butterscotch, not displeasing.

Taste: Watered down and not attenuated at all, it tasted like unhopped wort with a side order of ash. I understand that hops might be more expensive over there, but come on, bitterness registered a big fricken' zero. Somedays I feel like most brewers in this province are allergic to lupulin...
