The third 5 oz pour of a draft tasting flight.
Quite simply, in my opinion this beer should not exist. I see it was only brewed once. That was once too many. If I were to own a brewry - I too would want to try new things - experiment and do something weird and wild. That's great. But I would not subject my failures on my customers.
I typically like the beers from Flying Monkeys. They have a raspberry saison that was fantastic. Several of their typical line are quite drinkable. This one however was in my opinion, an abject failure.
First, in the glass, it is a typical ale, clear, golden in colour, lacy white head. Nothing special, but nothing to prelude to what is about to happen. The nose is all lime. Overpowering lime. No mint. No other aroma. Just lime. And not real lime. Like melted down green lollypops. First sip is overpowering. Tastes like it’s half lime cordial. There is mint there but just barely. You have to really concentrate to find it. Oh and did I mention the lime. This is marketed as a sour wit. Let me state for the record, I love sour beers. This is not that.

This was labelled at the bar as Mojito Belgian Sour ale, presumably the same as this one. Mint and citrus were definitely present with a pleasant sour finish. Certainly not your average brew but would be a decent patio drink. Reminiscent of a Mexican car bomb but without the slush. I would actually drink this again though I would imagine lots of people may not be fans.
