Listen to an 80's album. There is always something missing. The advent of supposedly high definition recording led to a world where distortion was considered an error despite the intent of the musician. This beer is like that. It is missing something. The art is cute, I guess. But the beer is missing 600-800Hz. Which is not the end of the world. But overall, it is just somehow incomplete. Maybe that is where the mutants went? I am wondering where the mutant went. Me and Bruce (Cockburn, not Hornsby) are united on this front, if middle/low frequencies were symbolic of lions that is.

I bought a can today at the LCBO in Ontario 473ml at 4.5%.
Hazy orange color good carbonation
Poured a 1 to 2 finger head into glass.
Leaving a lace all around as you drink it
Lots of crushed fruit flavors with a medium to high bitterness level .
Light and fruity very enjoyable IPA beer and easy to drink.
Cheers.

Not sure why this is noted as retired. Just purchased from Toronto beer store. Pours a pale straw hazy gold. Surprising and persistent head of 1-2 fingers. Our old friend Cascade hops coming through loud and clear, whereas the dry hops are less discernible. Clean finish — pairing very nicely this evening with a homemade pep and sausage pizza. Give it a chance, you’ll be pleasantly rewarded!

Very slightly hazy golden yellowish pour with good two fingers of white tight bubbly head.
Thought maybe my nose was broken - nothing off can and still little off the pour - nothing off just really nothing - as warmed a little citrus hop....maybe.
Taste is clean and crisp, soft pale malt - hints of generic citrus/grapefruit and at the back a floral leafy bitterness that makes it clear I still am tasting.
Crisp medium mouthfeel - nicely carbonated giving a decent body on a session IPA - grapefruit bitterness nicely lingers at back.
This is refreshing and super drinkable if not really aromatic or flavourful.

The Mutants are Revolting fills my glass with a medium hazy, pale amber colored beer. Thin streams of carbonation support a rocky white head which leaves good lacing as it slowly recedes down the side of the glass.
Ripe, juicy hop aromas rise from the glass supported by hints of pine. Overall hop nose is perfumey with background grassiness, helping give the nose structure. Beneath all this, hints of malt come through, only helping add to the beer’s aromatic profile. Biscuit malts give the nose hints of bread that are faint, but present. This adds a hint of sweetness to the nose which I think only helps balance out the beer’s assertive hop nose.
On the tongue, Mutants are Revolting are anything but revolting. It’s a medium bodied ale, with a juicy up front hop profile. Medium carbonation cuts into that initial hoppiness, showing me the bready, soda cracker flavors of the beer’s paler malts. The flavor sweetens briefly before carbonation leads into a dry, hoppy finish. Mutants are Revolting’s finish is crisp, bitter, and kind of woody in nature. I find it to be a nice contrast to the ripe, almost tropical juiciness that greeted me up front.
It’s a very well balanced, well executed version of the American IPA. I find myself enjoying the beer’s hop profile both at the front and at the end of each sip. I like very much how the hop finish gives contrast to the ripe juiciness I get at the start of each sip. Carbonation and malt provide balance and structure to the overall beer and the medium carbonation gives backbone without throwing the flavors all out of balance.

A very high white head, that decays slowly. Needs care in pouring it out. There was not really any smell that I could discern, as it was overpowered by the slice of pizza on my plate. Taste was not to my liking, not a high enough IBU, and perhaps I was thinking more citrousy would be nice. I suspect this would be a better hot weather beer, and I do like th 4.5% ABV if I am doing something serious afterwards.

This is an interesting beer that I’ve had a few cans of since late summer. It’s interesting because every time I’ve had it it tastes slightly different. If you have a light DDH immediately before you pick up a biscuity finish. Other times I pick up a slight nail polish note which I assume comes from one of the hops. I keep buying it though because when it’s on it’s great.
