500 ml bottle, from The British Corner Shop. ABV is 5.0%. Beautiful clear reddish brown colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Malty and nutty aroma, hints of toffee and caramel. The flavour is also malty and nutty, again with hints of toffee and caramel, but not very sweet. Moderate earthy hops in the finish. Nice beer.

L- Deep chestnut brown, clear, pours with 1Cm fine tan head, holding really unusually well, and leaving lacing down the sides.
S- Mild to me, but I'm a bit congested.
T- Roasty-toasty grains, then decent body, into a small hoppy-dry flourish right at the tail. Nice.
F- As it warms slightly from chilled it opens up the flavour, and comes over as a bit richer. Very pleasant.
O- It's very good, I'd happily buy it again. The surprise to me is that Sharp's have managed to get this much trad-style flavour from a 5% beer. Before trying this I was quite cynical thinking 'Special Ale' and 5% don't often go together IME, but there is something rather special about it.
500ml bottle/£1.75 from Waitrose Motcomb Street London SW1. First and only time I've seen this beer anywhere in London/regionally! BB: 03Mar20

From a 500ml bottle.
L: Gorgeous russet colour with an off-white head and lots of lacing.
S: Rich, malty, toffee notes.
T: Strident and bitter with lots of coffee and earthy hops.
F: Light body, high carbonation for the style and a dry finish.
O: Rich, malty, very dry English bitter. A little thin but an ok winter brew. Don't drink too cold.
N.B. Unlike the cask version, the bottled version of this beer has been brewed under license by Molson Coors in Burton-upon-Trent which is 270 miles away from Rock, Cornwall. Highly misleading labelling despite this move occurring in 2014!

Clear amber. Thin short lasting head.
Aroma of freshly cut grass and tangy malt.
Malt profile interrupted by a mild hop taste. Lightly toasted brown bread.
Moderate feel.

Served cold (too cold) from 500ml bottle into nonic pint glass.
L) Lovely chestnut brown colour, slightly cloudy, starts with a lovely fluffy off-white head, but it fades very quickly to a thin film.
S) Nice rich fruity malt odour. Shame that I have left this one in the fridge too long, I can imagine it smells good at cellar temperature.
T) Again, I am not getting the full effect because it is too cold, but there is a warming slightly roasted malt flavour, enhanced with a refreshing hop side.
F) Lightish body and nice carbonation, easy drinking.
O) Probably got the wrong end of the stick having it too cold, but I enjoyed it anyway. Will buy again and have at a more appropriate temperature.

Bottled
Pours a mid brown body with fleeting white head that clings to the edge of the glass
It might sound overly romantic but I would say it smells of sea air and seaside rock
Nice brown bread and hint of malt vinegar with a touch of pepper for the bitter finish
A nice enough bitter but would I turn to it after a rough fishing venture on the sea, not sure
