The text on the can says "Traditional Premium Pilsner Czech Style". The can is designed to make you think that this is a Czech brew, but it is in fact brewed in Sweden by Carlsberg Sweden, formerly known as Pripps Bryggerier.
So I guess I have to judge it like a Pilsener!
The colour is surprisingly dark with a golden tint instead of the expected light yellow. The white foam is built of big bubbles, and it dissolves quickly into a tiny ring.
The smell is quite mild and malty with some flavours of honey, and wet paper.
The carbonation is... It should have been OK for pale ale, but too weak and short for a Pisener.
As for the taste: It lacks the potent bitterness of a fine Pilsener, instead, it got a fruity and a little sweet aroma with some honey and some hints of diacetyl. The aftertaste is first dominated by a medium-strong bitterness that fades into a sweet taste of malt.
In other words, this is not a "Traditional Premium Pilsner Czech Style", but Pripps' run-of-the-mill lager beer in a new can. Sad to say, I am not surprised at all.
