A 330ml can with a BB of May 2018. Purchased recently from Home Bargains. Described on the label as an amber lager hopped with Zeus, Cascade and Amarillo.

A: Poured into a tulip. A rich amber colour with some floating sediment and low carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.

S: Aroma of mild caramel malt with hints of grain, subtle grass/hay, faint leafiness, a twinge of fruity zest and vague earthy yeast. OK but quite bland.

T: Tastes of light caramel malt with notes of mild grain, stewed leaves, hay, subtle earthy yeast and a touch of harsh cardboard in the background. Faintly sweet, followed by a moderate leafy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with prickly carbonation and decent body. Slightly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter leafy hops, mild caramel malt, yeast and acrid cardboard.

O: Meh - a subpar effort from a large brewery. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a lacklustre mix of caramel malt, subtle hops and harsh background qualities. Average body; could be livelier. Doesn't live up to the impression created by the label. No need to hunt this one down.

When you pour it up so it is a bit reddish in color.
Medium bubbles in the foam disappears gradually soon, leaving almost nothing left.
The foam is white.
The fragrance has some low malty tones.

Seems a bit småsöt with elements of different fruits.
Some brödig with bitter orange and grapefruit, some grass in the background.
Do some bitter tones come.

The foam has a slightly malty flavor and is quite tame njaaa with a untss, the foam disappears little soon to be tasted properly.
In a first sip it is not bad indeed, surprising.
You know of them malty tones more now, there are also some nice hop flavor.
Tastes a little bread and small toasted sugar.
There is little berry flavor and a slightly caramel.
Is a hint of a slight bitterness at the end where you feel a little dried fruits.
Unfortunately, after a while the beer some degree warmer and then disappear most of taste

A- Fizzy amber body beneath a rocky foam head that dies to a pale custard coloured lace that has a sticky property.

S- Very malty with no real hop aroma at all. Bready with a touch of sweet sugar much like a sukerbola.

T- Not bad at all. Decent crisp and dry malt/hop balance. On the front it begins with a malty front, bread and sugar. Then towards the back it becomes much more dry bitter and hoppy. The hop has a woody bitter nut character.

MF- Reasonably full for the style. Very smooth however with some CO2 presence.

Overall- Well balanced this beer is not at all as bad as I feared it might be.

Not a huge fan of this, does not have the feel of a craft beer which is not surprising since it is brewed by Carlsberg.

Not bad, but not craft.

the rating is simply because Carlsberg are trying to trick us into thinking this is craft beer.

A clear dark brass colored beer, an off-white head that leaves good lacing. Small curtains.

Some bread, bitter oranges, grass and grape-fruit.

Sweet brown bread, orange marmalade, some bitter orange peel.

Medium low carbonation, slightly sticky, a short raw coarse finish.

Not bad at all, maybe due to low expectations, a bit short bitterness. But anyway, works for me.

“Backyard Brew” is an in-house brewery and experimental workshop at Carlsberg Sverige.

The colour is red-amber (25 EBC), the liquid clear. The two figner head is off-white and airy. It sinks quickly leaving minimal lacing.

The smell is semi-sweet and malty with some red berries. Hints of pulp. Some flowery bitter notes.

The taste is mostly malty, caramel and red malts. Some dry red berries, some caramelised sugar. Fresh mild bitter notes with dried flowers. Light to medium body. The aftertaste is balanced with some alcohol, some toffee and a very mild bitterness. The finish is mostly caramalt and some dried fruits.

The carbonation is medium strong with lots of mid sized short lived small bubbles. The liquid is light.

I liked this one, it is a no nonsense session lager. Shame about the pulp in the nose, though I recall it from several other beers brewed in Falkenberg.
