Slighty better than standard lagers. Nothing special though. For what it is, a bit expensive.

Golden color with a nice head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Light aroma of bready malt sweetness and distant floral hops.
Predominant sweet malty taste with a light touch of floral hops. A hint of cardboard.
Light body with good carbonation.
Slightly better than nice Adjunct Lagers.

Paulistânia was born from the Brazilian importer Bier & Wein (http://www.buw.com.br/), the same folks who have popularized La Trappe and Erdinger in Brazil. A homage to the city of São Paulo and Paulistas everywhere, this is a pure malt lager in the 600 ml bottle formation. On to the beer:
Poured into a pokal, the carbonation bubbles light up the hay yellow colored body. Head is foamy looking and two finger´s thick, retention itself is extremely good. The mild aroma brings some light grassy/hay notes, a trickle of malt sweetness.
This is not another `Brazilian Micro Lager´. This is true to style yellow lager with a simple, lovely grassy flavor to it and great balance. The hops provides a little flavor and a moderate amount of bitterness. A touch of green apple adds a small layer to the complextiy to this beer. I keep drinking more and I keep liking it more. It´s got a medium bodied feel and a gentle crispness. Have I mentioned the contents in the bottle are dissapearing quickly?
I´m quite surprised with Paulistânia. It´s more than just a mere novely, it´s a good tasting lager beer. At R$6 per 600 ml, this would be in my fridge everyday if I were to `go Paulista´.
