I love Goetta, here goes on a potential weird one...
Golden, very clear. Head falls completely flat almost immediately.
Smells like sweet grain.
Tastes like a nice vienna lager with salt and pepper. Reminds me of subtle grains of paradise that Sam uses way too often but more subtle. Some citrus has to be there as well. Salt on the lips after a sip.
Thin and slick mouth feel.
Well, I expected to only drink one for the novelty but I'll be drinking the whole six pack which is more that I expected. I don't see much of the Goetta flavor but maybe a little reminiscent due to the spices. They are hard to pin down but they are there.
Goetta is absolutely wonderful and we always have it in the fridge. Great to put into an egg sandwich. If you aren't near Cincy you probably have never heard of it but if you can get it you will understand.
I can't figure out Christian Morelein. When at their restaurant, I love their beers. When I buy them retail I never like their beers. The secret coding on their can stamps are hard to interpret. Basically I rarely buy them because I have no idea if they are fresh enough. I hope they fix that because I would love to support them by purchasing their beers fresh.

12oz can stamped CMB8 0195 (July 13, 2020?) poured into a becher glass at fridge temp 4.8% ABV 18 IBU. The beer pours bright light golden amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and nothing else. The aroma is savory with a bit of smoke, salt & pepper. The taste is fairly nuetral grain with a hint of smoke, salinity & black pepper. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied with average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, ok. Interesting concept to mimic a breakfast sausage, but really restrained in the execution.

Designed for one of the region's most popular pub crawls, the brewers of Christian Moerlein embrace the regional delicacy of goetta by making a full flavored, full bodied lager that celebrates the food's ingredients of smoked malt, sea salt, black peppercorn and oats for a uniquely Cincinnati spin on the conventional lager.
Bonzen gold in its pour, the bright and bubbly lager builds a short lived but creamy eggshell froth that extends into an elegant malt profile of light toast, floral hops and a spicy twinge upon the nose. Rich grain flavors are rounded and juicy with honey, toasts, cashew and an overall off-caramel sweetness.
As the flavors start to wrap around the middle palate, its simple but stately malt flavors are soft with grain and cereal while inviting a hop spice of mint, tea and lemongrass to complete the balance. Its faint smoke and peppercorn taste is easily missed if not reminded of the secret ingredients with.
Medium bodied overall but full bodied for lager, a more Dortmunder Export taste and texture comes to mind with a tongue coating sweet, nearly slick texture that extends into a medium length aftertaste of lemongrass and a mild peppery balance.

Great beer! Goetta is a sausage popular in Cincinnati. It’s a golden lager with a few of the ingredients that go into the sausage added.Very drinkable beer with just enough added flavor at the end to set it apart.
