500 mL bottle from the LCBO; served slightly chilled. Can't make out most of the smeared bottling date, but it starts with 06.
Pours pale straw yellow in colour, with a cloudy, translucent body topped off with one finger of smooth, creamy white head that shows superb retention. Within five minutes, it has wilted down to a thick collar and uneven cap about a quarter-inch thick which holds its position indefinitely. There's a fair bit of lacing, too: this may be the best-looking glass of Berliner Weisse I've ever poured. Its aroma is not particularly interesting, smelling mostly of canned pineapple chunks/juice, accompanied by mild notes of grainy wheat, faint funk and some lactic acid tartness.
An enjoyable fruity sour. Gritty wheat and grain husks provide a subtle, yet constant background presence, while sweeter notes of pineapple chunks come through soon afterwards (albeit in a rather timid fashion). The lactic sourness begins to really assert itself on the back end, making the hints of lemon zest and tart apple difficult to discern; pineapple juice tanginess lingers into the aftertaste, with its sweetness helping to counteract the brew's acidity. Light in body, with spritzy carbonation that froths up and prickles the palate aggressively, giving this brew a light, crisp texture that aids its overall drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.86, a B+. Not too sour and not too sweet, Nickel Brook's Pineapple Über is a more balanced experience than I've come to expect from this typically puckeringly-tart style. My main complaint is that the pineapple flavour is a bit too dialed back for my tastes - if you're going to make a fruity BW, you might as well go all in and allow the fruit to strut its stuff. For the record, I had a bottle of Raspberry Über right before this review... I don't think this pineapple variant is quite up to the same level, but there's no doubt that it's a solid alternative that is well worth sampling. Looking forward to trying that bottle of Peach Über sitting in my fridge.

Pours very pale straw yellow with thin head: aroma lemon and tropical fruit - of course pineapple which thankfully is not overwhelming, but then nor is the beer - surprisingly bland for this normally fine brewer.

500 ml bottle served cold into a chalice. LCBO purchase for around $5 CDN.
Appearance - Very pale golden color, thinks Coors light or white wine shades. Some haziness and a half finger of thin white head forms on top. Very modest head retention and no lacing whatsoever.
Smell - Some veggie notes, hints of bubblegum and candied pineapple. A touch of the signature earthy funky wheaty aroma. Some gym socks mixed in.
Taste - Quite tart, just straggling little bits of candied pineapple. Plenty of wheat mixed in. Surprisingly intense for a lighter beer, although this seems essentially devoid of pineapple.
Mouthfeel - Thin, heavily carbonated and spritzy feel. Dry finish.
Overall - Didn't love the original, enjoyed the Raspberry, the Pineapple however, there's just barely any in here. If it's advertised as pineapple, I want to be able to taste some of it. Not poorly brewed, but not up my alley. Pineapple and sour do seem like an odd combo to try to mix.
