500 ml bottle from the brewery. Cost was about $5 CDN. Served cold into a chalice. Funk lab release 11. Picked it up in mid January 2019.
Appearance - dark ruby red from the side but looks yellowish brown going into the glass. Some clarity and absolutely no head poured.
Smell- tart, sour, vinous, lots of oak, hint of cherry and cranberry combo and a sweet little vanilla marshmallow flourish at the end. Don't really get much of the advertised peach but it is there if you squint hard enough.
Taste - tart and sour, balsamic flavors, wood and a chewy molasses flavor at the end is added and is interesting. Again not much peach, but slightly more prominent in the aftertaste. Wood is probably the dominant flavor here.
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, low carbonation as is appropriate for the style, dry finish and a touch hot with booziness.
Overall - too me it's more interesting than great, but still a well executed beer with a couple of interesting points of difference. The suggestion of peach in this combo as well as the chewy molasses and marshmallow combo, the beer calls for Peachy, balsamic, oak and winter warmer. Interesting and worth a try at the very least, would give consideration to buying this again, would need to be in the right mood for this type of brew.
