473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 8 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours effervescent and foggy, its ruby-red purplish body topped with an inch of lumpy, meringue-like head that seeps off within three minutes or so. A creamy collar and thin cap remain in place afterwards, along with a few far flung strands of thin lace - honestly, compared to many of the other Ontario kettle sours (and BWs) I've come across, including their Raspberry Jam Stand, this is downright gorgeous. Blackberry yogurt on the nose, with hints of raspberry, stinky socks and wheat bread; suggestions of mint, lemon and cherry are fainter still.
A fine Berliner - the modest sweetness and tannic qualities of the blackberries serve as a useful foil for the lactic acid sharpness. A little wheaty/bready, with blackberry and lactic acidity taking the reins right off the bat; subtler hints of raspberry and lemon aren't far behind. Finishes with a sharp lactic twang, then lingering blackberry juice and skin/seed tannins into the aftertaste. Light in body, with moderately aggressive carbonation that starts off crisp and prickly, but its feel becomes more soft/plush as it exhausts itself. Good drinkability, but the lacto sharpness limits it somewhat.
Final Grade: 3.92, a B+. I looked at the date on the bottom of this can and was wondering if I should even review this, but Blackberry Jam Stand has held up unbelievably well for an 11 month old light beer. Functionally not much different than the Raspberry variant, other than in terms of looks, so if you enjoyed that one, you'll probably like this too. I'll give it another try this summer, assuming I come across it again.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.75 CDN. Canned April 22, 2021.
Appearance - Lightly hazy purply / red colored beer with a small half finger of head that fizzles away instantly. Lots of bubbles rise to the surface.
Smell - Lemon, plus some weediness and hints of blackberry. Not much else.
Taste - Some tartness, blackberry, some wheaty background flavors, not quite as sour as expected.
Mouthfeel - Medium light bodied, crazy expressive carbonation, refreshing but not a beer to be drank quickly.
Overall - Not sure how the Jam Stand Series is terribly different from the Uber series. This one's tasty enough, but I can't see myself going back to it. Friendly reminder to self that most of the Berliners and Fruited Sours while unique, all start to blend together after awhile. If Blackberry's your thing and you enjoy Nickel Brook's sours, go for it.
