At my my Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a Teku glass. In the Mystery Beer 2025 4-pack at the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Canned November 5/25. My 21st beer from the Burlington, Ontario brewery, and 8th for 2026. With Gracie the cat's permission, of course...

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Nickel Brook's 2025 Mystery Pack. Dated Sep 23 2025 and served barely chilled. Fun fact - the first iteration of this mystery pack competition was in 2017, and the eventual victor was Mystery Beer C. It, too was a hazy IPA; later renamed Wicked Awesome, and still actively being brewed in 2025. It's a brew I still imbibe to this day, but can Vol. 3 C possibly stand up to the sterling legacy of its predecessor?
Pours hazy golden with a glint of marmalade orange-yellow; it's topped initially with two fingers of soapy white head that melts away over the next three or four minutes. It leaves behind an arcing pattern of lace on the glass, with a frothy collar and filmy cap persisting on the surface. The aroma is very subdued, with few distinct features: a bit wheaty, with muddled citrus, mango and an indeterminate berry-like note - strawberry, maybe?
Thankfully, the flavour profile is much juicier and more potent than the nose let on. Orange juice, lemon candy, grapefruit and pineapple, with added notes of melon, underripe strawberry and wheaty, bready malts. Fruity aftertaste with well-integrated alcohol. Medium in body, with middling carbonation that adds a little bit of spritz to this brew's smooth, fluffy mouthfeel. Very drinkable for 7% - I could drink another without much coercion.
Final Grade: 4.03, an A-. I really thought that the Canadian IPA (Beer A) was a shoe-in for my favourite, but Mystery Beer C is giving Beer A a run for its money. Just a delicious IPA that would easily slot into my rotation - I'm not sure if this is as good as Wicked Awesome, and the muted aroma is unfortunate - but given the general public's love for hazy IPAs, I would not be surprised (or entirely disappointed) if C ends up winning the whole shebang. Great work Nickel Brook!
