Saison de Table is slightly hazy and a light amber with hints of lemon in color. The head is cloudy, bone white, and lasting.
This saison's aroma is bright, fragrant, and floral in nature. The aroma starts off dry and slightly spicy/funky like so many good Belgian beers. But then the citrus aromas kick in, big. The citrus is all Seville oranges and lemon rind, promising tart, attenuated refreshing, deliciousness. The spicy qualities are a combination of peppercorn, clove, Belgian funk, and a dusty sort of woody quality. Gentle earthiness gives some depth and hints of honey add to the overall fragrance of the beer.
On the tongue, Saison de Table is crisp, slightly tart, and well attenuated. Flavors start off with the same Seville oranged and lemon rind I found in the nose. Peppercorn, Belgian funk and dusty woodiness add complexity without letting flavors become too tart in nature. As with the nose some earthiness is present, giving the flavor a little depth. Mouthfeel is dry, which helps accentuate the tartness without letting it dominate.
Easily worth an 8.5 out of 10. This is a wonderful beer to have on a hot summer day. It's tart without being overpoweringly so, well attenuated so as to reinforce the beer's overall refreshing power. And it has just the right sort of Belgian character in its spicy and funky qualities.
