Amber colour, moderate head. Corn and hops aroma. Light bodied, but a distinct unpleasant bitterness. Funny name = "The Night Express Train" probably suggests that this beer is a fine night cap and will put you to sleep nicely. For sure, the flavour is no reason to keep you up. You might as well go to sleep. Goodnight!

50cl Brown bottle, best before 27th Nov 2008, drank 17th Feb 2009, almost three months overdue.
Nice front label, a Golden Steam Train on a black background with golden stars or snow flakes above.
I poured the beer into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru tulip glass (twice). A Pale Euro lager it is not.
This is a deep, dark amber coloured lager, with a real red tint to it. The white head consisting of fairly large bubbles soon fell away to a collar and wisp covering.
Initial aroma of yeast before the pour, but once out of the bottle there was very little to test my senses on the smell front. gets my normal lager odourless score of 3.
Dry, with some malty/molasses sweetness trying to even the dryness up, but failing to do so.
The body is typical cheap lager, meaning thin and watery with no force of character or personality. The 6% alcohol does come through, but I think a headache would follow if anyone had more than two of these.

The colour is clear dark amber-brown. The large head leaves lots of lacing.
The weak smell got notes of lightly roasted malt, some dusty frowsy flavours and a hint of alcohol.
The lightly roasted malt returns in the taste together with a touch of caramel. There is some metallic bitterness. The short aftertaste is soda-like with some sweetness and a discreet bitterness.
The carbonation is strong and artificial. Large bubbles.
I have understood that many Danes look up to this beer with respect and consider it as a classic. It is named after a steam night train that went from the Jutland Peninsula to capital Copenhagen.

Presentation: 50 cl bottle. Purchased at the grocery store in Copenhagen.
Appearance: Clear, medium brown/reddish beer with a thick foamy head that quickly dissapeared. Virtually no carbonation.
Smell: Malt, medicinal.
Taste: Smooth mouthfeel. Mostly malt taste and slightly medicinal and burnt taste. Slightly spicy finish.
Notes: A refreshing change from Carlsberg and Tuborg (the only two beers you can get in Denmark for a good price). Not a bad beer, but Vesfyen has some better offerings.
