Copenhagen 15/1 2021. 50 cl bottle from Lidl, Lygten, Kbh. NV. Usual design for Vestfyns Nordic Craft Beer brand this time in a turquoise version.
Pours slightly unclear, copper with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet fruity odor mingling with light citric notes. Peach and pineapple. Citrus and lemon. A light metallic scent chiming in.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, tingling and lively texture.
Flavor is medium intense and bit musty. Medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweetish undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Quite malty but not terrible.

Bought this at Lidl, opened it on New Years Eve, 2022. The beer is an IPA, looks good and tastes like an IPA should, but I was slightly taken aback by the taste. It does start out as an IPA, hoppy and all but things take a very steep turn into something sour and watered down. Has this beer expired? not sure but it didn’t feel right, felt very strange to have that sour taste lingering on, but since it was so watered down, I thought this is what it was supposed to be like. I mean, a beer might turn sour by going bad but they don’t really become watery, do they?
Anyhow, at least it reminded me that in 2023 I need to buy proper Made in the US IPAs. Could be my New Year’s resolution, huh? Happy New Year, people!
