Willemoes Jul 2021 is a strong, dark Russian Imperial Stout with an alcohol percentage of 11. It is a beer with a good body and a pleasant bitterness that complements the rich and sweet dishes of Christmas. The taste offers sweet but sharp whiskey, vanilla, oak and anise, and the beer is a tribute to the sweet life.
Willemoes Jul 2021 differs from previous years' editions, which had a lower alcohol percentage. Brewmaster Behnke wanted to bump up the alcohol percentage after a "tame corona year".

Copenhagen 5/12 2021. 66 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen, Nørrebrogade, Kbh. N. Green label with Peter Willemoes in naval uniform looking a bit surprised at his mirror image.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a big beige head. Settles as a thin puddle of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet malty and roasted odor mingling with earthy fumes. Brown sugar and dark roasted malts. Bitter coffee licorice and chocolate.Whiff of salt water and peat. A bit sharp.
Light carbonation. Thick, viscous, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Finish is dry.
Fine, well balanced and potent take on a Christmas Beer. You will not be sober as you approach the Christmas tree.
