On cask at the brewpub - Dec 20, 2007. No aroma. Hard to drawn anything other than faint brown sugar. Pours a clear brown, with rocky off-white head above. Flavor is a sweet and woody. A light tooth of crispness in sugar and old hop bitterness. Short. A little light on the carbonation, even for a cask beer. Not as soft and supple as I would have expected. Meh.

Cask sample at the brewpub: Clear ruddy amber color with a negligible off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel, bready malt and fruit. Medium-bodied and kind of creamy with toasted malt and subtle peppery hops flavors. The finish is equal parts hops and malt. Decent overall.

Had this from cask at the Grizzly Peak Brewing Company. Poured a nice reddish-copper color with a rich off-white head and some nice lacing.
Aroma was sweet malts and some fruit.
The taste was very balanced with a delicate maltiness and a soft touch of hops to it. It took me back to the pubs I visited on a trip to England.
Mouthfeel was very nice with the cellar temperature combined with a nice smoothness and no carbonation to it.
This was the best of the beers that I tried at the brewpub. Very drinkable and great with their fish and chips dinner.

Their standard cask. A little head on a dark reddish tinge. A hoppy fruity aroma, perhaps some wheat, and taste, but taste does not deliver on the aroma. Strange carbonation like it was infected, yeast: it was musty, fungy like. And malt in the finish.

This arrived with a big, rocky, off-white/light-tan head. The color actually settled out to become a very clear, deeply copper-colored ale. The nose was sweetish, but not overwhelmingly so. It had a very mild nose, without much that was discernible. The mouthfeel was medium, with a nice mix of hops and malt in the mouth. There was a definite bitterness, but the malt nicely offset it. The finish had that same sweet, mildly bitter admixture. Highly drinkable, especially on cask.

On cask, presented in a shaker pint.
Deep rich auburn colour - almost glowing. Thin, but dense, off white head. Thin sheet of lace is left on the glass with every sip - all the way to the bottom.
Nose is very flowery, with a decent enough malty backbone.
Rich and malty. Nice tones of caramel round it out nicely. Striaight forward dry flowery hop finish. Medium bodied, very easy carbonation. Smooth.

I had a few top notch ESB's while back in Michigan over the last week and this may have been the best.Poured a deep clear amber with a very nice well formed head that stuck like glue to the glass, big juicy fruity aromas as well as some brown sugar and tea-like notes even a touch of hard water.Quite rich tasting but smooth and medium bodied going down, biscuity malt, brown sugar and orange marmalade flavors hit ya gliding into a herbal light pine finish.Very rich tasting like I said but very quaffable at the same time,a stellar ESB.

Dark amber/light brown colour, quite clear, topped by a generous off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Toasty malts and a bit of chocolate in the aroma. Moderate bitterness, some chocolate and toasted malts, little hop flavour. Short, bitter finish. Medium/light body and low carbonation. Great for a session.

This cask bitter has a deep flowery aroma and wee hazy coppery color. The bitterness of the brew is a tangy addition to the heavy body. The malt profile is just enough to keep the hops from overpowering the beer.
