Our I.P.A. is brewed in the West Coast fashion. Similar to the Pale Rider, but with more malt and a lot more hops, which adds more alcohol and more hop bitterness and aroma. Our I.P.A. is hopped with high alpha acid varieties like Nugget and Chinook for bitterness, and then finished with an ample amount of Ahtanum and Cascade for aroma. This nectar is also dry-hopped for incredible aroma. Over 26 pounds of hops go into this beer.

Pours a hazy gold color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, slight floral hops, slight alcohol, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight citrus, hops, hint of wheat, slight sweet malt, hint of floral, and slight alcohol. Overall, good appearance, weaker aroma, but better body and blend.

Poured from Growler into Tulip.

A. Poured about 1/2 finger head that disappeared pretty quick. Not much lacing. Very nice orange copper color.

S. Smell is fruity citrusy hops. Nice hop aroma. Some caramel malt. Overall a nice bitter hop aroma.

T. Taste is pretty balanced between malt and hops. There is a definite bitterness from the hops. Piney, citrus hop flavor. Bitterness lingers on.

M. Medium bodied. Mediumb carbonation. Lingering bitterness.

D. Very drinkable. Goes down very easy. Not a lot of hop flavor but good bitterness. This is a solid IPA. 2nd good beer I have had from Hog Haus.

I had this IPA while visiting the brewpub on a recent rip to Fayetteville. On tap, the beer has a deep copper-amber color. It’s head is full-on white, fairly thick, and has a nice longevity. The aroma is a pleasing mix of both malt and hops. It presents a floral and herbal hop aroma, backed by a slightly toasted malt smell. The taste is similar. Caramel and biscuit flavors mingle with floral hops. This is not a hop monster. Anyone who appreciates balance in an IPA would like this brew. It’s a solidly English style IPA. It has a full body, with modest carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Too bad they don’t have it on cask, I bet this one would have been delicious as a real ale.

A: A nice clear orange color. Nice white head that left some lacing

S: Smelled like a sweet alcohol, perhaps like some Irish whiskeys. Then gave way to a floral hop, but not overpowering. Perhaps a little more subdued than I'd personally like.

T: Bright hop flavor. Very floral. Balanced between the hops and malt Finished with a bitterness that builds as it went along.

M: Refreshing with a dry finish.

D: Very drinkable. Could have gone through several with no problem.

Overall: A very nice IPA. I found it nice especially considering it would have been easy to have done an American. The choice of going with a British was good.
