Brown where light passes through the edge. No head and no lacing.
Smells like brown bread and molasses.
Sweet with a strong molasses overtones. Described as 3 parts coca-cola and one part mild malt. Beer drinkers won’t typically like this as this closer to a soda pop.

Served from the can in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.
Comin' out of virtual retirement to continue the tradition of the Original Kvass Kick! Had some free time after work, and, wandering about the mall, I headed into an international market on a lark. Wouldn't ya know it, some new kvass! Get some! This one brings the OKK back to Lithuania and ups the usual ABV by double.
It pours a mostly clear tawny topped by a finger or so of beige foam that quickly dissipates to a minor tonsure for the remainder. The nose comprises dark breads, dried maple syrup, corn syrup, and a whiff of fennel. The taste mostly follows suit, sweetness being the primary name of the game, backed by some breadiness, mild fennel, and a hint of watered-down cola. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a very fluid feel, not unlike a soda that's gone slightly flat without getting too sticky. Overall, this is a decent-enough commercial kvass, decidedly sweet and soda-like, and it's pretty drinkable. Not something I'd reach for readily in the future, but certainly not a spitter.

.5L aluminum can acquired at a supermarket in Vilnius, Lithuania, and served into a Utenos pilsner glass in me friend's gaff there. Served cold and reviewed live. Side-poured with extra vigor as undercarbonation is anticipated.
Best before: 13.11.2014.
BUBBLE SHOW: <None.>
HEAD: Pours a four finger wide head, khaki in colour. Average thickness. Not much creaminess or frothiness. Subpar consistency. Average complexion. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Retention is good for a kvass/gira - about 3-4 minutes.
BODY: Dark and nontransparent. It's black in colour, with red hues, but it's too dark for me to see if there is any yeast particulate or hop sediment in the body.
Appears well-carbonated - especially for a kvass. It's not a unique or special appearance, but there are no obvious flaws. I'm optimistic.
AROMA: Dark bread, licorice/fennel/anise, raisin, prune, beet sugar, and disgusting molasses. Seems chewy. This is as off-putting a kvass as I've ever come across. I dread the first sip. It's moderately strong to boot.
No yeast, malt, alcohol, or off-notes are detectable.
TASTE: Unpleasant.
Beet sugars, dark bread, licorice and fennel, raisin, prune, and molasses all make an appearance - and they don't work well alongside each other. Raisin dominates.
The prune is particularly foul.
Above average duration of flavour.
It's fairly sweet for a kvass, and not as cola-redolent.
TEXTURE: Chewy. Filling, thick, and bready. Smooth, wet, and fairly syrupy. The chewiness is off-putting, especially when coupled with the raisiny and pruney taste, as well as the molasses.
OVERALL: Not real drinkable; it's filling and has an unpleasant taste. This might just be my personal aversion to licorice, but I'm having a lot of trouble enjoying this kvass. I'd caution against picking this one up; it's easily the worst I've tried so far.
I'm not sure I'll be able to finish this glass, honestly.
Might be a good beer for beer batter, or for making bread.
