Draft at Hops & Bottles. Dark amber, tiny head. Atoma is malty, hint of booze. Taste comes in sweet, malty, apples. A gentle wheatwine, but still potent

22oz bottle served in a pair of WABL sample glasses. Dated 10-29-18. No recollection of where we got this beer.
Pours a deep ruby-amber, clear, with a medium head and quite a bit of carbonation. It's a pretty beer. Smell is herbal/floral -- if it didn't say saffron on the label, I would never come up with that, but I have to assume it's the smell of saffron. Some slight honey and maybe a little booze, but that saffron aroma is really dominant.
Taste is impacted heavily by the saffron, but it has some other components. A little more honey, definitely some booze, a lot of oak flavor. Something bitter coming across that I don't recognize -- my tongue is trying to tie the oak and the saffron together to explain it, so I guess I'll go with that.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly thin but still sticky. Overall, it's pretty good -- more interesting than good, really, probably not a beer I would buy again unless you told me they halved the saffron or something like that, but definitely a beer I would try again if offered.
