This beer is not quite as good as the Original Irish Death but has more of a chocolate flavor and the coconut taste comes on at the finish. It pours a chocolate brown that has a minimal head and if you look through it at the right angle you notice a reddish hue. It is a light beer, and has little body and mouthfeel is the same. S: The beer is nearly jet black in color - only slight traces of dark brownish red are visible near the edges of the glass. It poured with a short tan head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of toasted coconut are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and moderate to strong flavors of toasted coconut and hints of chocolate.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The smell and taste of this beer is all about the coconut.
Serving type: can

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark malt, coconut and some light chocolate. Flavor is dark, lightly toasted malt, coconut, milk chocolate, vanilla and mild coffee on the finish. Lingering chocolate and coconut. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Based on their beefed up brown ale, Irish Death but with some coconut to change things around. A little less malty and thinner than I remember Irish Death being with a touch of astringency in the finish, perhaps because of the slightly lower ABV. Coconut is forward, but appropriate for the Aloha intent. I'm a fan of the other variants in this series and this is a fine coconut version.

deep amber brown with a frothy-cream head that holds. Coconutty, chocolate coffee malt balls, much the same as the taste, not as inviting as the smell leads you to believe, still pretty good. Somewhat thin, slight bitterness, could have a little more body. If you’re into coffee and coconut, this is a solid bet

12oz can poured into a goblet. Near-opaque black/brown pour with a fluffy, tight-bubbled off-white/khaki head that leaves minimal lacing. Coconut-y nose with impression of roast and smoke. Lots of coconut/Almond Joy on the palate, not quite artificial...but not overly authentic? Roasty chocolate malt, hint of char, milk chocolate smoothness. Smooth body has a lighter feel to it, almost watery. A pretty decent coconut dark ale.

Opaque black with three fingers of tan head. Copious tan lacings form as the level drops.
Smell is all coconut.
Taste is coconut cocoa nibs and maybe some coffee.
Mouthfeel is medium with just enough carbonation. Finish is slightly dry and bitter.
Overall a tasty coconut forward stout. No date found.

12oz can from Hops & Bottles. Pours out seemingly thin, dark brown almost see through, small fine beige head. Robust coconut aroma evident from first crack of the can. Behind that a bit of chocolate, coffee and roaast malts. Taste leads with the coconut, artificial (?), mild sweetness and low key chocolate and roast bitterness.

the art on this coconut edition is awesome, the cans looks awesome, and the beer inside isnt bad either, although for me its almost over the top on the coconut, and some of the features i like about the base beer dont do as well here as they did with peanut butter in that version. i almost wish this was more roasty for balance, the coconut isnt cloying but its really heavy handed in here, and a little malt bitterness and earthy character to counter that would be nice, this almost drinks lighter with the coconut, like a brown ale, i get less of the grain depth than in other variants or in the original, but this is a cool way to make a darker beer a summer drink option, and these guys continue to make good decisions like that. real tall burlap colored head from the can with nice retention, a reddish glow along the edges of the dark brown liquid, a strong nose of coconut candy, lightly toasted, a tad sweet, but relatively natural, just a whole lot of it. for me the flavor is good, but the coconut is strong enough to almost make this feel cheap, it takes over the beer, and while it tastes good, it definitely limits how much of this i really want, and a single can immediately feels like plenty. the body seems lighter though, the high carbonation is a nice touch, but this needs some additional nuance, i almost want cocoa nib bitterness, grilled pineapple, coffee, something to go with and against the coconut at the same time, it almost feels like something is missing to me here. a cool twist on their classic, but overall this came in well short of my lofty expectations for it.

Based on their Quilter's Irish Death, brewed with coconut. Prefer the original but the coconut worked well.
