I hate rating the appearance of stouts, as the body of 95% of them look identical, and this is no exception (i.e. it's duper dark brown / black). The head is usually the only differentiator for me, and in this case, there's not a ton of it, but there is a persistent coffee ice cream colored ring and as I drink it down, there's very nice lacing.
Aroma is oddly muted. I just drank the Dulce de Leche version a couple hours ago and it was super coffee / roast forward on the nose, whereas this has hints of chocolate and roast, but they are faint and there is some diacetyl coming through.
Taste is very reminiscent of the base beer, with roasted malts accented by coffee combining very well. While I wouldn't be able to identify the kumquat blind (I possess nowhere near that level of skill) it certainly must be what's contributing to the light citrus acidity on the finish. Creamy, full body.
Overall, the base beer is obvious here with the kumquats adding a slight twist. Very tasty.

Syrupy-looking amber/maroon-tinted black with a creamy mocha head. Solid retention and lacing.
French roast coffee with chocolate, caramel and vanilla notes in the nose.
The taste follows closely with some nice rounded edges with hints of citrus. Softly bitter coffee finish.
Medium bodied with soft zip from the carbonation.
Great all around beer. Would never pick out kumquat blind, but there is a hint of citrus in there that’s really very complementary to the coffee. Highly recommended.

Decent head production and OK retention.
Wonderful aroma, absolutely swimming in rich coffee notes. More subtle notes of chocolate, toffee, and prune. No real hint of kumquat.
Flavor, on the other hand, is accented by notable citrus, albeit very complementary; it's not really tart or sour, nor overly sweet. It's a light citrus film floating atop the coffee stout base, which remains the absolute star of the show. Absolutely delicious, arguably even tastier than the original. Just as thick and creamy, as well.
This is astonishingly good, well above my modest expectations.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with a thin layer of of light brown head. The nose is typical Peche Mortel - dominated by coffee. Dark chocolate, some fruity smell (tough to decipher what it is). Brown sugar and roasted malts. It's honestly tough to differentiate this from the regular Peche Mortel, at least from the nose. Let's see. The taste is very nice. Now I can tell that something is a bit different from the regular version. Bitter roasted malts, dark chocolate, fruit, a bit of smoke and tar, oak, and leather. The fruitiness does set this apart a bit. Almost a little orange, including the peel. Mouthfeel is pretty thick. Overall, a really nice coffee stout.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and an unidentifiable fruitiness that would have guessed was kiwi. Taste is dark toasted malt, quality coffee, bakers chocolate and a fuzzy fruit character that like the aroma, I could not place, but must be kumquat; not that citrusy. Coffee forward finish, but not as much as last week's Tajumulco variant. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Another quite coffee forward stout and oddly has about that same level of fruitiness from the Guatemalan coffee variant (which I attributed to that coffee's natural fruit notes). As with that one, the coffee tastes authentic and high quality and melds well with the semi-sweet chocolate character. Pleasant and flavorful, but not a notably different profile.

A fun take on their infamous stout. Great coffee aroma. Full cup of bitter coffee. a latte going on the side helped to infuse some sweetness for drinkability.
