This cloudy-orange beer is the taste of liquid summer sunshine. Refreshing kumquat immerses the palate with citrus and tropical fruit, while biting hops interplay with bready malt. A touch of acidity from the kumquat zest finishes things off with a smile and wink. Whenever you find yourself yearning for those hazy summer days and warm electric nights, here you will find solace.

Light feel even for a IPA . The fruit side is nicely balanced with the hop. Great beer when it’s hot.

Another weak offering by Canada's best.
The nose has some promise that just falls flat (literally and figuratively), and with that, this is getting dangerously close to mass produced lager territory. It's almost all just malt, with even a hint of corn syrup, of which I am sure there isn't any within. But the point is that this is a large disappointment and in a cheap, sloppy way. The best thing here is the label.

A very curious beer A beer with a tour, the citric has a good presence at the end of the drink. A good product, with a curious touch that makes it special. That yes, as a beer, apart from the citrus flavor, it's fine but it has not motivated me much.

Bright gold, verging into amber, a little hazy, covered with a big, steady white head.
Citrus hop aroma - tangerine, orange - mild to my senses.
Flavour is hard to in down fruit - mango, banana, tangerine, orange - that is quickly balanced by an unrelenting citrus zest bitterness. Mouthfeel is soft, medium-full body that is a touch buttery, yeasty, and medium carbonation. Reading the label now - kumquats! Never would have thought of it being an obscure fruit, but it makes sense now, and tastes just like them.
A unique, bracing IPA, it'll wake up your palate and makes a great summer sipper. Could have this with a fennel salad, bbq chicken.

Golden with a light haze, no carbonation, and the topped with two fingers of yellowish head.
Smells of oranges, kumquats, corn syrup, and a hint of Evergreen.
It's very citrus and orange forward, with a nice malt in the mid-palate, and a slight grapefruit pith bitterness on the end.
Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a Tannic finish.
Well rounded and delicious IPA! I got this in Gatineau, Quebec, and I'm drinking it in Muskoka February 4, 2018.

Acquired in Montreal blocks from Dieu du Ciel brew pub. A slightly hazy/cloudy golden ale with muted tropical fruity aroma. Sweet fruity flavour of peach, apricot, tropical fruit (kumquat maybe but never actually had a kumquat...). Smooth mouthfeel but finishes with a really nice lingering bitterness.

Bottle pour from zwanze day. This was one of the ticketed beer which was weak. Old bottle. No fruitiness or kumquats. Overly bitter. Malty. I ended up dumping this one.

i love finding bottles of du ciel beers in random liquor stores! this one came from a place called mikes in kansas city, languishing there on the warm shelf with a bunch of other forgotten shelton brothers releases from over the years collecting dust. this beer doesnt taste old at all to me though, the hops are still super citrusy and forward, and the kumquat tastes fresh as well. not the sexiest beer, underneath the tall white head is a pretty fish food looking beer, golden to brassy orange in color, but with lots of flakey sediment swirling around. awesome nose and taste though, kumquat piquant tang for sure, wonderful juicy hops, fresh orange and pineapple notes, light caramel or toffee, splashy wetness on the hops and the fruit, tastes brand new. a neat ale yeast too thats not flavorless, lightly crackery and clean in the finish, assertive bitterness for sure, long lingering on the tongue, and carbonated highly, super refreshing even though its a little more substantial than most session types. the kumquat adds to the finishing bitterness, this tastes alive, and is an ambitious and well executed brew, well selected hops too, they marry in wonderfully with the base malts and the fruit. this is exceptional. i am extremely excited to visit the brewery in september!!!

Poured cold from 11.5-ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance leaves nothing to be desired. Translucent dark yellowish-orange in color, with a thick, brilliant white head that leaves tons of sticky lacing. Fruit forward on the nose and palate, with a well balanced combination of slight malt sweetness and extreme hoppy and zesty bitterness. Medium bodied, with a crisp, dry finish and lots of lingering bitterness. Quite lovely.

From Bierkraft. In Teku glass. Playing Tales Across Time. Nice citrusy and sweet profile that I suppose comes from the kumquats. Light body and a not much strong yet notorious bitterness. The aroma is a bit weak though. 4 months before bb date

I picked a bottle up of this last April when I was in Montreal and finally tried it in January 2017.
Pours a hazy or a rather cloudy orange color. The mouth feel is a bit thin as expected with most IPAs as compared to a darker beer such as a stout or a porter. As for the tasting notes .....lemon, bergamot, daffodil, pine....in short ...really well balanced and dare I say the perfect IPA. I've had a lot of citrus dominated IPAs but this is by far the best one. Miles better than the grapefruit sculpin. There's almost this elusive ethereal floral quality to the beer. Think a more coy , demure , flying dog raging bitch, ... I don't know it's hard to describe.Kumquats.... the perfect citrus pairing for hops...who knew? I wish I had a six pack.

-personally delivered to me directly from a St. Jerome resident. Bottle pour is a pretty orange with some haze. Aroma has some sweet citrus notes. Flavors of tropical fruit and substantial malt body with saison yeastiness combine for a very pleasurable drink with a dry finish.

Pours a cloudy, orange color. 5/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, citrus, piney hops, herbs, hint of grass, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. There is also a distinct dryness. Tastes of piney hops, citrus, citrus hops, sweet malt, slight alcohol, floral, and herbs. Overall, good appearance, complexity, body and aroma are refreshing, but it is dry to the point of being a detriment.
