This is a very good stout, but the roasted malts are more overpowering than I like for an oatmeal stout which I think of as more creamy and less burnt coffee.

I bought a mixed case from Cosco. The beer poured an opaque black with ecru head that is leaving some lace. The scent had some roast. The taste is nicely balanced with roast and chocolate. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 24 Oct 2016. Sampled on November 18, 2016.

Near black pour with tremendous long lasting fluffy tan head. Lingers.

Enticing aromas of cooked oatmeal, smoke, charcoal, sweet malts, and a low earthy hop profile.

The body is light to medium. Some acidity.

The taste is of roasted malt and smoky delights. The finish is fairly clean and slightly bitter. A delightful oatmeal stout, which is not among my favorite stout styles. I think it's the smoked character I liked the most.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Dark walnut brown body, nearly red mahogany lighter with a nice cascading solid three finger uniform tan head. Settles with a bit of a creamy top, soft bubbles and light lacing. Very nice looking brew.

Slight earth and small fruit hop tones, but a bit of spicy quality on the malt bill with matching roast to go with it. Comes off slightly winter warmer smelling, minus creamy vanilla tones associated with oatmeal, but the roast character is nicely done, and even almost biscuit cookie like as well.

Palate gets into a bit of wet territory on the mouthfeel. Roast character goes more for a hop light bitterness and tobacco pine mix with the malts in the mid palate. Slightly acrid finish, but with a nice lingering spicy mix and astringency. Real nice oily hop and spicy aftertaste which goes for a bit more porter like experimentation than oatmeal softness.

An interesting experiment, and does come off like a nice winter brew. Different but solid.

12 oz. poured into a stemmed glass.

Appearance: Opaque with a one-finger leathery head.

Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, faint smoke, dark grains, roastiness.

Taste: Really tasty stout. Follows nose. Oatmeal is noticeable in taste and texture. Chocolate leads the way, for me. Coffee bean-type note is noticeable.

Mouthfeel: Super smooth. Alcohol is hardly noticeable. Very appealing.

Overall: Very well executed. A winner for sure.

Very viscous, dark stout with a thick biege head. Smells of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar. Expecting an intense taste from the look and smell, but is pleasantly subdued. Tastes follows the aroma with roasted coffee, chocolate, and toffee. Mouthfeel is also not as syrupy as expected and quite drinkable. Really great stout that I would have again on a chilly night.

A - Dark brown-black body, short tan-off white head, some lacing. Not completely opaque, but dark with brown edging.

S - Pretty quiet. Grain and doughy malt notes, with a bit of chocolate.

T - Full range of bread notes, dark bread and toast, chocolate and coffee, but low acidity, and a mild bite of bitterness in the close.

M - Full for a stout at this ABV, the oats give some heft and slickness, but the beer remains quite easy to drink.

O - This is a lovely standard stout. I like stronger chocolate notes, but this offers a lot of rich bread, a dark molasses bread in a glass. Yum.

A: Pours a near pitch black with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves some spotty lacing

S: Roasted malt and chocolate up front along with a light grainy note and a very light touch of dark fruit

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the roasted malt and some dark chocolate and goes into some of the grainy/husky notes. Lightly sweet with a touch of bitterness from the roast. Finishes with lingering roast

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice oatmeal stout that is very easy to drink. Seems a lot like the one they used to bottle
