This is a bit all over the place for my ratings, but I think it looks gorgeous and feels so incredibly nice and soft on the pallet. There’s not enough here on the nose for me. I get some muted sour notes but that’s about it if interest. Tasting I have the sour that I like, some vanilla and cherry, but it’s not as complex as some of the great Flanders sours I think this is going for. I remember loving it on draft when it came out so I bought a bottle to age to see what would happen, and I wonder if it has now lost some complexity. It’s tasty but not the world class beer I was hoping for.

500 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 7/2/18, had 10/2/19.
Pours ruby red, semi opaque, with a two and a half inch thick foam head with great retention and lots of creamy lacing. Aromas of cherries, vanilla, malt, some oak, some toffee as it warms. Smells somewhat tart. Flavors of tart cherries, light sourness, vanilla, malt, some oak, some lemon, light funk, a little raspberry, caramel as it warms. It’s a little acidic. Mostly smooth, dry, a little creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.
A well made example of the style, well developed aromas and flavors. The BCBS barrels do seem to add the caramel and toffee notes, as promised. The flavors really open up when fully warmed. Very enjoyable.

3/31/19 (Chicago): $8 1 pint 0.9oz to go, bottled July 2, 2018 @ 10:53 AM, multiple pours into chalice. Bronze red pour, light off-white tan head leaves bubbly light lacing. Tart cherry aroma, light vanilla lurks behind. Smokey oak barrel offsets sweetness, well blended. Taste consistent with aroma, tart cherry dominates, light vanilla backing. Carbonation holds light fizz, light texture, easy drinking. Overall excellent pour, hope they return this offering in the future.

Draft at GI Clybourne. Clear, deep red appearance with no foam head. Nice cherry tart flavor. Put together well but not noticing the BCBS flavor (which it might not need to have either).
