This year’s Proprietor’s explores the broad spectrum of chocolate. Using a combination of dark chocolate and two types of cocoa nibs, this rich and decadent beer highlights the whole range of chocolate from smooth and silky milk chocolate flavors, to deep and earthy dark chocolate.

Pours as black as ink with a small brown head that faded quickly and left minimal spotty lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, bakers chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, burnt caramel, some floral notes and lots of roasted malts. Simple, but outstanding. Tastes just like it smells with dark chocolate, cocoa powder, bakers chocolate, burnt coffee grinds, vanilla, chocolate syrup, bourbon, caramel, smoked grains, some floral notes and lots of roasted malts. No ABV bite, it went down smooth as silk with a velvety texture normally not associated with such a heavy brew.

This was a chocolatey mess. Not great, Goose. Not great.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like dark chocolate, malted milk balls, vanilla, marshmallow, char, roasted malt, and bourbon.
This isn't quite a full chocolate assault on the senses, as much as it could have been. I think chocolate just kind of goes well with the flavors that naturally come out of the Bourbon County base, so it's a very complementary sort of flavor. I get hot chocolate with marshmallows, sort of, a bit of barrel spice, chocolate candy, malted chocolate milkshakes, and coffee/mocha.
This is thick, and creamy, with very little bit booziness to it. The barrel is strong but doesn't add much overt heat.
I wasn't sure what to expect here, as this is definitely one of the more "basic" and less creative Prop variants so far - but that "lack of creativity" led to a wonderful focus, and a nice emphasis on the barrel character.

Hands down the best bcbs variant I've ever had. The aromas of dark chocolate are so rich on top of rhw already decadent base i couldn't help but cackle with excitement smelling it.
The taste is a suckered punch of chocolate and cocoa. Sweet and bitter. Heavy alcohol heat and much more barrel than I pickup on regular bcbs.
Feel is huge and chewy.
Overall stellar.

Pour is black with a thin sliver of mocha colored head which dissipates quickly. The first thing i get from the aroma is a huge peanut butter which I did not expect. Next is some unsweetened dark cocoa, then an almost astringent booziness. Smells nice but far from the best BCB beer I’ve smelled. Taste is definitely richer, fuller, more chocolatey, and overall better than the nose implied. There is a molasses type sweetness up front, and huge dark chocolate characters on the finish that linger for ages. Barrel characters are much more prevalent on the taste then the nose as well, with a very nice bourbony charred oak. The chocolate present is large, but I get almost no milk chocolate or fudgey notes, moreso strong high % cocoa dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is smooth and full bodied, drinkability typical of BC. Overall, a very tasty beer but amongst the lower tier of my personal preferences of Bourbon County Brand beers.
