Had this at GI - Wrigleyville. Can't believe it hasn't been reviewed before! Served in a pint glass.
A - One finger of creamy tan foam that dissipates fairly quickly but leaves tons of lacing. Transparent red-brown color with lots of tiny bubbles racing to the top.
S - Smells more like an English IPA than an ESB. There's a pretty decent amount of hop character (the menu says "cascade hops from Washington"), but also plenty of honey and bread malts. There's only the faintest hint of bite/kick to the smell. It's nice, but a little subdued for the style.
T - Again - more IPA than ESB. Some lemony and floral hops over a strong malt backbone of toffee and bread. There's some bitterness in the aftertaste, but it's relatively mild, and the brew lacks much of an edge to it. Still - quite pleasant!
M - Lots of residual caramel stickiness, a little too carbonated for my liking but with some nice upper lip tingle. A little thinner than I like in ESBs.
D - Hey - it's cheap, tastes good, and has reasonable ABV and carbonation. What more do you want?
Really great for those on a budget that still want something tasty!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
