Copper in color, this big, medium bodied lager is full of earthy, spicy malt flavors. Hints of dark fruit and cocoa show up in the finish along with a balanced bitterness. Made with 100% German ingredients including chocolate and caramel rye malts and Opal hops.

On tap at the brewery taproom.
Pours clear and very dark amber with a decent head and some lacing.
Aroma: mainly sweet. Mild for style
Flavor: low bitterness. Good balance. Mild for style with scant evidence of the higher ABV.
Nice smooth, medium body with good carbonation.
Overall: a nice albeit mild version of the style.

Had on tap. Crystal clear chestnut brown with a eggshell white collar and lacing. This is a great example of a great new world twist on an old world style. From the nose rye, cocoa, caramel, earth, and malts o plenty all there. Taste focuses more on the malts with caramel and earth undertones, like a bock should, but has the rye and cocoa sprinkle in, building toward the finish. Very clean. Malty, earthy, leans slightly sweet for style, and has a hint of smoke texture too.
