The beer arrived on the bar black wtih a frothy tan head which cascaded well due to the nitro tap and which lasted forver to lace the glass.
The aroma was strong coffee with a strong dark chocolate aroma and a nice roasty presence. Their was also a nice dark caramel presence to the aroma.
The flavor was lighter than expected but still contained a strong coffee flavor and in my glass, no appreciable sweetness*. Roasted malt was most prevalent with chocolate and strong expresso.
The finish was dry with lasting fruit and coffee and chocolate into the aftertaste. The body was medium full and creamy due to the nitro pour. The bitter grain flavor was very strong when cold and mellowed as the beer warmed. A nice dry American stout.
Pint at Dirty Jacks. The brewer said that real chocolate was used in this brew.
*My buddy had a pint out of a newly tapped keg and it did have more sweetness in the flavor.
