The beer arrived on the bar crystal clear golden with an amber hue. The head which low and white, yet lasted well enough to lace at the glass.
The aroma was fruity and citrusy with a light caramel aspect and a light spice. The spice aromas were pepper and coriander most notably.
The flavor was fruit, strongly so, with a pineapple malt and hop character and a strong citrusy orange flavor. The flavor was peppery with a light coriander and a bit of grassiness.
The finish was dry with lasting grassy, citrusy and a slightly resinous character with low spice lasting into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a fairly high carbonation level and a creamy mouthfeel. The beer seemed to be more of an English Double IPA than a Tripel, but after talking with Carl the flavors he intended, orange, from bitter orange peel, and spices from the yeast were present. His hops were Fuggle and Styrian Goldings. A great beer, you decide if it is a tripel or not.
10 oz glass at Dirty Jack's.
