a great stout here, bacon and smores. usually its the hoppy beers i like the most from green man, but this one really did it for me. im not sure that there is actually meat in it, i couldnt get an answer on that, but i would guess not, while it does have a nice smoked profile to both the aroma and the flavor, its far from actually being salty or greasy or meaty in the way that bacon is, but the smoke element is awesome with the smores character, plenty of rich chocolate and vanilla notes to this, a flash of honey sweetness with the dark malts, and some good bitterness from the roast here to balance it out. i like the little bit of cooked sugar happening here, it gives it a certain authenticity, and i dig that there is some density to it, without being overdone on the adjuncts either, like its big, but its not undrinkable, and i think the added ingredients give it balance and the smoked malt thats obviously here gives it a cool earthy grounding. lots of people making smore inspired beers out there right now, but this one is a standout for me, really really good! not too boozy or sweet, not forced, just great.
