Imperial stout aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels for 10 months, then blended over heaps of Nicaraguan crushed cacao, Ceylon cinnamon, cloves, allspice & Peruvian ginger. Expect loads of semi-dark chocolate, bright citrusy ginger notes and a warm holiday character from the spices.

16oz can opened 12-31-22. Almost a finger of beige head, moderate retention as it falls to an almost solid cap. Black stout with some ruby highlights at the bottom and edges. Initial impression of the nose is ginger and wood. After a few minutes fragrant booze and a touch floral in the aroma. Medium body, low carbonation with a slick mouthfeel. Sweet in the finish with significant heat and a lengthy finish.

Picked up as part of a mixed four-pack from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 7-8-22 for $27. 2021 Holiday edition consumed 9-15-22.

Beer poured dark brown with a tan head that fizzled out pretty quick.

Nose is ginger forward with a touch of chocolate.

Taste is a large lightly roasted malt base that has a nice mix of chocolate added that is quickly overwhelmed by the ginger spice, allspice, and cinnamon. Finishes with a touch of bourbon barrel and ginger heat. It is missing a more kilned malt to give it more of the base cookie taste.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and not overly smooth.

Overall a fun beer to try but with all the adjuncts going on they were not able to pull off the cookie effect that i was looking for.
