I love the Green Man Russian Imperial that this starts from. It's your typical big, high gravity, chocolatey Imperial. It's one of my favorite Green Man products. I also typically love barrel-aged stouts, so this should be an automatic winner. That said, I like this beer, but don't LOVE it. I actually prefer the basic Imperial Stout over this one. I just don't enjoy the liquor tones in this one. Maybe its the type of bourbon, or maybe the level of aging, but the bourbon tone just doesn't match up well with this stout.

On tap at Sessions in Greensboro.Poured into an imperial pint glass black as an oil slick with a nicely formed one finger deep tan head that held well.Like others have noted it's quite yeasty and it shows in the aromas with fruity esters mixed with dark roast and vanilla mainly,as it sat more the big sweet alcohol really reared its head.Vanilla and chocolate upfront on the palate with yeasty fruitiness always in play, again as I drank more the alcohol became more prevelent. This is close to being great but the yeast is a bit heavy handed,it does have a few things going for it though.
Iam guessing this is the same beer just called Dweller thats out right now, same ABV. and style.

A: pours black with a finger of tan head, which quickly recedes but leaves good lacing.

S: some roasted malts up front followed by vanilla, oak, and rum. There are some strong alcohol aromas as well.

T: very strong rum taste throughout this beer. Vanilla, oak, and alcohol there as well. A bit of alcohol burn on the end, though it's not too hot. The rum overwhelms most of the other flavors, unfortunately.

M: Thick body with low carbonation, but not too sweet.

D: a bit too alcohol-forward to be extremely drinkable. Not too sweet and fairly smooth. Overall not bad, but the rum is too strong for my tastes.

deep dark brown, not nearly opaque as enough light was coming through that you could tell there was a good amount of cloudiness and sediment in it.

full of dark yeast like smells. caramel and nuttiness was hidden in there but the big dominant aroma was of a dark chocolate mixed in with some yeast and a good bit of an earthy tone as well. flavor as well was quite different. Started by picking up hints of all the normal flavors you would expect in a big stout, there was a good amount of sweetness, mixed in with some chocolate notes and a touch of almost what seemed like vanilla. But then you started to pull out some of the flavors from the yeast, with the strong dark fruit that was hidden underneath. Almost a fig like flavor.
